How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsAmazing!

I thought this was great and even better than season one! I loved how it stuck to the core elements of the Eagle Strike book whilst also mixing it up to make it fresh - it was very enjoyable and the cast is amazing! Looking forward to Season 3!

Why has this show got adverts? Season 1 was in 4k and an Amazon Original. We pay for Prime to avoid adverts.

From United Kingdom

David Child
2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty much a let-down
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 December 2021
When this series first began, I was very excited to see some of my favourite childhood books be brought to life. Eagle Strike was easily one of the best of Anthony Horowitz's acclaimed novels. And (once you get over the annihilation of Smithers' character) Series 1 was a satisfying, if a little tame, adaptation that remained faithful to the source material while managing to expand upon the world in interesting ways.

You can imagine my disappointment when Series 2 fell short in just about every way possible!

Let's start with Amazon Prime. Nobody likes watching adverts, but they're a necessary nuisance if you want to watch free content. But we already pay a monthly subscription to access their content. Fair enough, we have to pay extra for content that aren't included in that package. But having to pay the monthly subscription AND sit through adverts in the included content?? That's just cheeky, and no other streaming service does this.

Now onto the content itself. Spoiler warning.

Adapting from source material must be challenging, particularly if you're on a small-screen budget. But, somehow, in 8 hours of runtime, Guy Burt managed to miss out ALL of the memorable scenes from the book, including the bullfight, the live videogame and the bicycle chase. A bit like Peter Jackson missing out Moria, Helm's Deep and throwing the ring into the volcano. The OTT, Bondish moments, such as a man drowning in a room full of money, is what gave the books their pulse-racing excitement and imagination. But instead, the bloated runtime was dedicated to probably the blandest, most boring side-plots ever committed to television: highlights including Jack Starbright's bizarre law career (?), a random hacker storyline that goes nowhere, a second random hacker storyline from the Point Blanc girl, who is so forgettable that after sixteen hours I can't remember her name, more general hacking and, I'm not even kidding, about five of Alex's drama lessons, where he bumbles his way through Shakespeare. They might have stuck the landing with the climactic ending, if the expert, highly-skilled assassin hadn't have been easily fooled by a child smashing a plate, and being shot in collateral damage, rather than doing anything remotely interesting with his and Cray's power relationship, something that was even set up in the very same episode. And, call me crazy, but the whole scene might have been a tad more nail-biting if somebody on the creative team had thought about making the plane, generally an airborne vehicle, actually leave the ground. The acting is simply abysmal across the board, from the extras to some of the main protagonists. The only exceptions are the perfectly-cast Otto Farrant, Stephen Dillane and Toby Jones, all of whom do their best with what the drab, humourless and uninspired script gives them. And the editing is so choppy on occasions, such as Alex and Sabrina's completely unemotional fairwell, where, in mid-hug, they literally leap to opposite sides of the corridor, that you have to wonder whether the director actually watched it through before it aired. Anthony Horowitz, and his acclaimed series, deserves better.

Next series has been set up to be based around Scorpia, another brilliant, memorable book. I really hope we get some pulse-racing, nailbiting excitement in the world of action and espionage, rather than three hours of Tom Harris's media studies adventures and Crawley having a coffee.

2.0 out of 5 stars badly made, went from an amazing series 1 to a badly made series 2
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 December 2021
wow. how can an amazing series go so far to being so bad. the first series was great this was unbelievable bad.
special effects really bad
cuting to parts of the movie was sometimes bad and missing parts. i.g when he has the mobile and the next episode he was at the desigination. another was the close up on Alex and Sabina the next camera angle he was far back than he was.
the drone scene how awful, so fake, so so bad.
so badly edited all round.
I hope if and when they do another series they get a new team to do a better job as I do like the actors and setup.

2.0 out of 5 stars I just frustrated and angry
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 December 2021
I tried to watch it, but the constant ad breaks just ruined it. If I wanted to watch adverts I'd get cable again (I don't remember any cable channel having this many adverts). Season one was good, but I couldn't even finish the 1st episode of season 2, and now season 1 is peppered with ads too, so I can't even re-watch it. This one is clearly for the more patient viewer
