This is my third MacBook Pro, in the past I have always used some sort of protective case and this is to my knowledge the first hard shell case for any of the new 2021 MacBook Pros to hit the market place. This particular example is made from a clear plastic material that clips easily onto the upper and lower halves of the MacBook and so far feels secure. I do not believe that it will offer much drop protection, there is no additional padding around the edges but it seems substantial enough to protect against general knocks and scuffs.

My main criticism is that the clear material itself is a bit of a fingerprint magnet so you need to make sure that the inside of the casing is thoroughly wiped before fitting (the pieces are delivered securely wrapped but will mark once unwrapped and handled) - I do not think that this will be so much of an issue with some of the other styles which are less transparent. Also there were no fitting instructions included and it took a bit of trial and error to get the correct fit; I found the top half was best applied front to back (the clips are at the hinges) and the lower half went on easiest back to front as the clips are roughly where the palm rests are. Under normal use I cannot see it falling off, time will tell - possibly the clips will eventually wear and weaken.

First impressions are good, this is a very simple design which takes into account the vents and ports on the MacBook it is designed to compliment and does not obstruct any of them. The upper section clipped on with very little effort so I did not feel that I had to worry about potentially damaging the screen by over flexing the lid. Overall the plastic cover feels more grippy than the bare aluminium case so hopefully less likely to slip out of my hands.

Firstly and primarily - not really worth the price paid for the quality - i'd say it's worth maybe 40% less than the price i paid judging by the quality of the product received.

- Plastic is cheap, flexy, and flimsy.
- Plastic is smooth to the touch and not rubberised, it has no grip unlike others i've had for my macbooks over the years, it will slide out of your hands just as easily as the aluminium will.
- It DOES fit the 14" Macbook pro, perfectly, you just have to attach it the right way.
- Unfortunately, probably due to space available when opening/closing the lid, the back left and right portions behind the ports aren't protected by any plastic, so they're still open to bumps and scrapes.

If you see it cheap, buy it, but otherwise, maybe wait for something else.

I generally like the look and feel of this case but it isn't very durable. It crumbled on one corner even though the laptop was stored inside another mosiso branded case and never left the house. it wasn't dropped or bumped but the corner still has damage. The only think I can think of is that is wasn't snapped in place well enough and resulted in damage but I wouldn't have expected a case of this price to have broken so easily. I don't think the case is worth the money spent on it.

EDIT: the case also scratches super easily. I held a small round cat food bowl in the same hand I had wrapped around my Mac as I carried both upstairs and the bowl rubbed slightly on the case and it has left ridiculous scratches. There was nothing on the bowl that could have caused these scratches other than the bottom rim and even that is barely rough. This is just a poor quality case and I would definitely not buy again.

P.S. yes, that is the bottom of a Perry the Platypus sticker. I am a real adult, I promise!

Supply and demand seems to be an issue for cases for the new M1 Pro and Max laptops. Not even Apple has any, which are normally available at launch. I had preordered another one in a darker colour but the delivery date kept getting pushed back. Spotted this one and bought it, have to say it’s a great fit, well made, without the awful screen clips from previous covers. The only minor thing for me was that I felt the price was a little steep, but heck the laptops new and cases are hard to come by, but I really don’t want to damage such an expensive laptop. Anyway it’s a great fit and nearly all the covers come from the same supplier, just rebadged and sold. But fits my MBP 14 no problem, it’s a worthwhile purchase.

*UPDATE* Reduced rating to 1 star because the corners of the lid shattered and cracked for no reason at all. The laptop never even left my desk and the case still broke. Total waste of money.

I always use hard shell cases with my macbooks. They're too expensive to leave unprotected, in my opinion. And while this case will certainly protect the laptop against scratches and guard against liquids, etc. left on surfaces, compared to other brand's products this one comes up well short.

If you compare this to an incase hard shell, which unfortunately aren't yet available for this model of laptop (14" macbook pro), the quality of the plastic used is far inferior. It has rough spots in places where the plastic was not treated or coated. The particular plastic used is extremely fingerprint sensitive, so if you touch it all, you will leave your finger marks all over it.

The fit is pretty good, it sits flush with the lines of the laptop's chassis, and there are very few sharp edges to grate against your fingers.

But overall, the main factor in my negative review is the price. I paid around £20 for this case, and for that price I would expect a premium hardcase. I've paid less for a smartphone case and have been very pleased with the quality. I don't believe that the size of the device should dictate the price of the case, yes a macbook is larger than a smartphone, but the actual plastic itself must be extremely cheap to produce. What you end up paying for is the design, and the branding. Neither of which you'll find in this case.

Oh and it also weighs a metric tonne.

tl;dr - If a branded case is released by the time you read this review, do yourself a favour and buy that one instead.

I was quite surprised reading other peoples reviews about the bottom half of the case. For me, it did snap on pretty well as did the top half, and does not come off with little movement. It does snap on securely and I trust this will prevent the macbook from scratches or bumps. Least I don’t feel ripped off, as opposed to spending £50 or more from higher end brands like InCase for the same plastic. It’s by no means perfect, but for the price, it’s more than adequate.

The cover for my new Macbook Pro 14 inch arrived a day early, which was great. The colour black was more like a very dark grey, slightly translucent and was a little thin. However, I do not have the chance to try it out as the bottom part only clipped on in three places, leaving the fourth corner slightly open. It was also very easy to remove, maybe because the fourth corner was not secure, but it didn't fill me with confidence that had it fitted it wouldn't have been as solid as I would have liked.

I didn't bother unwrapping the top half and have just requested a return and refund which was instantly granted - one of the great things about shopping with Amazon!

Absolutely love it. Tbh, I was a little sceptical about it not having a good grip but trust me, it feels like an Apple accessory.

I ordered this item 3 times trying to get one that didn't have unremovable marks or scratches on it. The first one had a mark on the top as seen in my first image, so I sent it back and ordered another one as the mark was quite noticeable.

The second one had a big scratched off area on the bottom part as seen in my second image. I tried my luck with returning it and getting one more.

The last one had dirt around the edges of the top one, and some more unremovable marks (luckily a bit smaller so not noticeable unless you look a bit closer). The dirt made it look like the case had been used for a long time, but there were no other signs of usage so I do not understand how this happened. Luckily, it came off with some tissues with water after a bit of scrubbing.

I've just come to accept the fact that I'm not going to get a perfect one, so I'm just going to use the third one I got since I really need a case as soon as possible. However, I do not think that the producers of this case have good enough quality assurance and it needs to be improved. I am not happy at all with my experience trying to get a decent case from them.

Looked ok on arrival. Fitting wasn’t great as it feels like it doesn’t stay on properly. I got the case on and have been using it for a few months now. It’s already broken and coming off every time I open the laptop. Easily scratches, looks terrible already and now needs replacing. I’ve had several MacBooks with cases for the last 14 years and this is by far the worst.

Purchased a new Incase. Over double the price but much better fit, feels better and is less chunky. Added photos of my old case once it was off the laptop. I’ve had it on for 3 months. My last laptop case was on for 3 years and looked in better condition. Not a very good quality case imo.
