How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsShocking but powerful documentary
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 May 2020
A very powerful shocking documentary. This was very thought provoking- and completely focuses on the victims and what happened that day- rather than glorifying the shooter- who isn’t even named throughout. The interviewer can be a little pushy at times and seems very keen to blame the police for the length of time it took to kill the shooter- but having watched the documentary and heard from the police- I can say that personally I feel they did the best they could do on a very awful day- a day in 1984 before mobile phones and the technology we have today- so sometimes his questioning can feel a bit too much to listen to.
Please note that this documentary is not for the faint hearted. There is very graphic footage of all of the dead bodies inside the restaurant- some of which you see several times- including 4 young children, a pregnant woman and a baby. Please do not watch if this will be too much for you to cope with- as once you have seen the bodies- you cannot un- see them. The baby’s body was particularly distressing for me- and I feel others should be warned before watching this. Having said this- this was not done in an insensitive manner- and I think it did add to telling the story- and showing exactly how terrible the event was.

2.0 out of 5 starsVery interesting but biased
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 May 2022
Terrible tragedy and very graphic to watch (probably should be rated higher). My main problem was the director/interviewer trying to make it seem as though the police acted wrongly. For a start, it is a dreadful scenario to have to deal with and nit picking at lots of incidental issues does not make for a good documentary when you are purporting to be favouring the victims' story rather than the 'shooter'. The interviewer claims to be focusing on the victims (fair enough) because he says that modern documentaries are always about the criminal which he doesn't agree with etc. Then he asks a victim what she would say to the 'shooter' if she could and the answer was 'Why?' which goes to show the exact reason that documentaries often include a lot of focus on the criminal as well as the victims - understanding the 'why'. Given how well made most crime documentaries are made these days, I was disappointed in the production values and quality of the interviewer's approach. He was making out as though the police did nothing, yet when explained to him their reasons for not storming the place etc wouldn't accept them. If the police had taken actions that resulted in more deaths that could be directly linked to something they did do, rather than didn't do, then his documentary would have been all about that! So they would be criticised either way. Very interesting, I had not heard of this massacre before - another reminder that these terrible incidents still happen in the U.S. and nothing is done to prevent them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mass Shooting

A heart-wrenching tale about a man who in 1984 walked into a San Diego McDonalds and shot the place up. Hold the police at bay for over an hour as they could not figure out what exactly was going on as he was using three different guns. Interviews and actual crime scene footage, some not easy to watch. RIP.
