My wife and I like to do long hikes, and we are planning to walk the Camino de Santiago shortly. As it can be hot, I need a vest to keep me as cool as possible, and like a looser fit to let the air in. All my other tops are medium and fit as you'd expect, so when I read comments saying it's a loose fit (and that's what I wanted), I decided the medium is for me.
However, although it looks really good, and is very lightweight (and should dry easily), it is even bigger than I was expecting. I have lost a little weight recently, but might put some on in the future, so I'm keeping it and may even use it on the walk.
I do like the quality though, so I've just ordered the same top in 2 different colours, but in the small size. I'm pretty sure that these will fit me much better, and will review those as soon as they arrive. If you like a loose fit and a medium fit is usually a snug fit, definitely go for the medium as it has plenty of room.
Update... the small sizes have arrived (dark green and grey), and they fit much better. They are not tight, but not as loose as the medium. So, if you usually wear a medium top and it's a close fit, but want more room, go for the medium. If a medium t-shirt is a normal fit (with just a little movement), then go for the small size.
