Quite different than their previous sandals, my first 100 miles

I wore out several pairs of the previous model of sandal and they no longer make them so I bought a pair of these. They are quite different in many ways, good and bad. After 100 miles on pavement:

The fit was perfect, the same as the previous sandal model of the same size.
Construction is quite different, made of very lightweight foam, with a relatively thin sole at the bottom
I expect I will wear though the sole very quickly, the hard part at the bottom is very thin
The top is waterproof, so it doesn't absorb moisture, a big improvement, so it doesn't get stinky
I wouldn't wear the old model in the water, this one I think I can
The top is textured, which is uncomfortable on the bottom of my feet, even after 100 miles.
The straps look good but cut the top of my feet up a lot for the first 75 miles. Now I don't notice them
The shape of the sole is very contusive to walking, the heel doesn't drag like the old model.
Very comfortable walking sandal, lots of cushion, BUT, the texture under my foot is still irritating
The top is shaped to hold my foot, and it does, but it also holds rocks and they are hard to shake out
In all, still a very expensive sandal, and hopefully one that will last more than a year before the straps or the sole give out like the previous ones did.

These are comfortable but the soft liner soaks up sweat like a sponge so these sandals have to be throughly cleaned every other wearing which isn't practical. The previous version of these sandals had a liner that didn't absorb moisture and stayed fresh much longer.

Too stiff and not terribly forgiving when walking. The sandal, however, appeared to be well constructed and presumably durable. Due to its unforgiving flexibility, we returned the sandal to the manufacturer. We decided it would not be prudent to attempt to “break in” the sandal and ultimately not being able to wear them.

It runs SMALL! Trust that. I usually wear between 10-10.5. Sometimes 9.5 on certain shoes. I had to return the 10.5 and get 11. I don't think they are the most comfortable, especially, were my feet sit., insole. It's grooved. They are durable though.

Keen is my favourite brand. I've been wearing their slip-on casual shoes barefooted for years and they are really are the ultimate in comfort, support and durability. I've avoided sandals because lets face it, sandals are not as comfortable as shoes. I decided to give these Keens a shot because of the many positive reviews concerning comfort.

The shoe appears to be well made with a very thick and grippy sole. The straps attach with strong velcro. The straps have to be done and undone every time so you can't just slip them on and off which means they will not work well for kicking around the house, which is important to me. They are advertised as being waterproof so maybe they will be good for the beach.

Unfortunately I didn't find them to be comfortable. I can really feel the pressure in the lower support strap when walking, just like sandals I've worn in the past. I hesitate to give a bad rating because I'm so used to shoes that perhaps they feel less comfortable to me than they would be to someone who mostly wear sandals (I think those reviews are mostly honest) . They are sandals and they are what they are.

Fisherman sandals seem to be a good compromise between a sandal and a shoe so I'll give those a shot next.
