Disappointing Quality

I have been a New Balance customer for many years, but this last pair of shoes was a disappointment. The M880 are a middling shoe good for middling tasks but not heavy athletic activity as some suggest. I got these primarily for treadmill and stationary bike work performed daily, but the shoes are uncomfortable for the following reasons. When on the treadmill, the constant pounding of the steps makes the sole of the foot feel like it is bottoming out on hard surface with each step. Additional inserts, such as Dr Scholls and even third party insoles, had no appreciable improvement. The second dislike is the consistency of the molded soles of the shoes. The right shoe is fine and feels consistent from heel to toe with adequate cushioning for modest but non-athletic tasks. The left shoe sole feels like the consistency drops off at about the ball of the foot and the toes are hanging over an edge, such as if one were standing at the edge of a stair. Additional padding had no positive impact. I cannot recommend these shoes for anything beyond casual wear.

I’ve purchased the last 4 versions of the 880 series, have logged close to a 1000 miles between them, and v11 is a step back. The foam is not consistent with past models and felt stiff & dead… like each step was a slap to the pavement. Padding on the lip sides and tongue is also different and resulted in a fit that was not similar to past versions. Overall, it’s not the same shoe or quality. I guess I’m going back to 990 series

The cushion is alright and I like that it didn't have the inside midfoot strap like the 1080s. The part I can't stand is on the front of the toes, there is a plastic cage / barrier of sort. When I tried to run in it, the sides of that shield pokes on my toes.

Shoes were obviously worn and not in original box. One of the shoes soles looked deformed which is probably why somebody else had returned them in the first place. Very disappointing.

Shoe fabric is super thin and started fraying after two weeks of light use. Impossible to keep clean. Uber comfy foam soles started smooshing down after two weeks and would not return to their original shape. I returned these shoes.

The shoes were too small. The label said 12B, but they were more like size 11. They were previously returned, and probably for the same reason. And for my trouble I was charged return shipping fee for shoes that were not made properly.
