I bought these as I had accidentally ordered the wrong size of the Norwand Pro Pants and the Silence Proshell 2.0 direct from Revolution Race. The turnaround of returns meant I had to get these RVRC GP trousers via Amazon Prime to have something to take abroad with me - but I am so glad I did.

I've just got back from a week of van camping around Iceland in winter which served as a great test of the RVRC GP's features. I wore these trousers with a pair of thermals underneath for 7 days except when sleeping, the lowest temperature was -16.

Whether hiking through deep snow, scrambling over glaciers or being stood in high winds these did the job without hesitation. I remained dry and warm throughout and enjoyed how hard-wearing the fabric is but with enough stretch in key areas to enable kneeling, climbing - also sitting in cafes sipping coffee. I was never caught in rain - but heavy snow and the odd slip into a fjord dried off very quickly. I like the elasticated hem on the legs which I could pull down over my boots - it kept out 95% of snow. Next time i'll wear gaiters but i'd do that regardless.

Thigh pockets are a good size for a beanie or pair of winter gloves and the variety of colours makes this brand stand out or contrast well with your other layers.

I was quite skeptical of the RVRC seemingly insta-savvy, flashy marketing and have usually owned Montane or other 'traditional' outdoor brands. I have been very pleasantly surprised and look forward to my other pairs arriving in due course to try out around the UK. Well worth the money in my opinion!

By the way you can google 10% off to use on the RVRC website (this is what I did) and they've since emailed out 25% off for valentine's so worth shopping around as the colour ways on Amazon are a little limited. Hope this helps :)

Good but not great

I am 185cm tall which is 6 foot 1. I weigh 105kg which is about 16 stones. I have an athletic build and I chose Large based upon reviews I read.

They fit. They stretch a little but they're tight in the thighs. Quite tight around the ankles and impossible to get over boots or trainers.

Whilst the velcro closures around the ankles are nice, I cannot see myself ever using them because they're already tight.

The zips are good. The main button is metal and similar to that of standard jeans.

The colours are strong with an attractive colour scheme.

Belt loops are of good strength having saved me from going head first into a lake while helping my dog out of the water. My wife used the big central loop to pull me back and it held.

Would I spend the same amount for the same trousers? Probably not, I'd say they're £10 too expensive for what they are. Berghaus or north face trousers are better quality and fit in my opinion so it's a 3 out of 5 from me.

Can't rate highly enough, absolutely brilliant trousers for trekking. Comfort is off the scale. Perfect even for the hotter climate and those treks like the Levada's in Madeira where you can begin in low temperatures, getting hotter as you get closer to the coast.

A good range of pockets too.

Occasionally they reduce the price by €20, so if they are close to €100 and you can wait, its best to!

Not sure what all the fuss is about on leg length, but I am a fairly average 32" and the length is fine. They are long, but if you climb, it means they won't expose your ankle, and that would be something I would complain about. And I'm not sure why you would want to put your boots on before the trousers, but no, you can't do that, nor would I want to, these aren't over-trousers.

So 10/10 for comfort, practicality, endurance and size.
(I hover between 32" and 34" waist so the small amount of elastication on the back is ideal for me. I bought size Large)

This is the second time I have tried RR trousers but the sizing on these is far too broad, especially in terms of length.

I am 5ft 9in (10st 10lb) but these came down over my toes and when you wore them with boots or shoes ruffled up and looked ridiculous.

Shame as I love the design and quality of the product, I would love to buy more but at £80 a pair, I am reluctant until they can nail down the sizing to tally up with the fits.

These pants are ok but they are over priced, not the best around, i found they are very warm probably more suited for autumn walking. The fit is on the tight side, i struggled to get them over the top of my boots. You can feel every stitch and pocket rubbing against your legs which gets more uncomfortable the hotter you get. They do have a good stretch on them so good for climbing over stiles. I wouldn't buy them again.

Really impressed with these. Bought for general use including working in. Excellent fit, I’m a 36 waist, 32 leg and Large fits perfectly with a little room in the waist. These trousers don’t ride down when bent over and don’t pull tight in the crotch. Much better than cheaper alternatives. Buy cheap, buy twice or just buy these trousers once!

Far too long in the leg (by 5”). Velcro fastening on leg bottoms have been replaced with popper fasteners. Very tight around thighs and very warm. Not lightweight at all. Buy a pair of Dickies or similar from B+Q and you you’ll get them same quality. Very disappointed. Item received will not be the item you see here on Amazon.

These trousers are brilliant!! I wore them for three days in Snowdonia, sliding down rocks, grass, and climbing up rocks with them on and they were as tough as nails! I don't normally leave a review, but I knew I had too with these trousers. The only thing I didn't like was the elastic bottom velcro strap as I didn't like how it sat around my boots. However, I took them to get tailored and remove the velcro etc and they were perfect after that!! Don't let this put you off though... they are great!!

Wrong colour sent out again or Jet Black is not Black but Grey, nothing like the product show in the advertisement. VERY disappointed 2nd time this has happened. Customers service is a real let down.
Made enquiries that RVRC trousers would be black like in the picture. Under the product name but weren't even close to Jet Black or Black. Feel like I have been lied to and just sent what they had.
