Great Running Shoes but after 4 months they are failing
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 February 2021
Update 4 June 21: After 405KM (279 miles) of road running they are falling apart, I'm hugely disappointed as I have only been using them for 4 months. According to my Garmin App these trainers should be good for 643KM, but they are NOT. The new light weight mesh on top shoes is great and stretchy, but its coming apart, even at the side of the shoes, the material is splitting. As I said I tarmac run 90% of the time, with the odd running track and well established trail. The tread is holding well, but at well over £120 I am devastated that these shoes have failed and now I need to replace them. 1st run 24 Jan and they split before end of May 21, 4 months!!! I have used Kayano shoes for year, until the tread went, so I am hugely disappointed that they have simply started falling apart. I leave my initial review below but I think Asics got this one wrong, cheap manufacturing for a premium shoe perhaps? So guess Asics just lost a loyal customer. Oh and their website says: 'As a general rule, you should consider changing your running shoes between every 450 to 550 miles'.
So confession, my last 5 pairs of trainers have been ASICS Gel-Kayano running shoes and I have stuck with what works, so i guess for me thats a good recommend. As always I feel some slight improvements when I first use them and in these the really soft light stretchy material on the top surprised me at how comfortable it is. Also these shoes are really light and when I run, they dont feel like they are there. The sole has worked well as I hit the tarmac running. I guess I have done about 150 KM/90 Miles in them now and they are functioning as well as the first day. So if you want a really light, comfy running shoe, you may well like these as much as I do. Well done ASICS.
