How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsokay as a beginner but there are better options
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 January 2022
The main problem with this set is that it is really hard to get a clean die with no voids at the top, especially the bigger ones (which is really cool that they supply too sizes to be fair).

The problem is that its really hard to try and make sure that there are no air bubbles in the mould while putting the caps on which are a bit fidgety. there is a hole on the caps to pour in more but even using a pipette can be hard as its a really small hole. Even assuming you manage this, as resin cures it contracts a bit so you need to pour more resin on the top, on the larger dice, this means you really need to either buy some uv resin to stick down the hole during late curing or mix more to stuff down.

Let us be honest, for the dice goblins buying this, we probably have lots of dice already. The best thing we can do, rather than buy this, is to buy some silicone, cut a plastic cup in half, place sticky tape over the lid, with loads of tape around the edges to stop spilling, push your dice down to the tape and pour the silicone in. wait 12 hours, remove the tape and use either more tape or plastic to make a round lid for the cap. pour more silicone and wait again. You will end up with a much better mould than this.

2.0 out of 5 starsCheap way of finding if you'll enjoy dice making
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 May 2022
This has definitely helped me to know that I want to do dice making as a hobby, but these moulds are not great. The face of the dice where the lid is always ends up with erosion or a popped bubble area. The lids are very difficult to put on, and the pipettes don't work well with the resin, they just end up putting masses of air in the mould. Only one of the paint pots was liquid, the rest solidified before being opened. I would at least recommend getting these if you're unsure as to whether you want to make dice, because it is much cheaper than making your own moulds. They'd also be okay for testing new designs without using better moulds.

Wasn't sure what to expect from the reviews but have been impressed with these molds so far.
They all came individually bagged which was really helpful and seem pretty durable. I'm a complete beginner and will probably upgrade at some point but made a good starter kit!
I used a pipette to fill and just left to set in my shed. Ended up with a few tiny bubbles all over (but think that's down to my inexperience with resin) but some of the dice did end up with gaps at the top by the fill whole - having researched beforehand I had tried to pool some extra resin on top of the mold which would get pulled in as it set but this often ran down the side or there just wasn't enough.

These are great. Such a good collection of molds.
It did take me a little while to get used to filling them up properly and taking my time and being patient. Also finding a way to make the mixture pretty much bubble free.
I did find some of them difficult to get the dice out at first and I ripped one of the molds a little bit. Now I am more careful and that hasn't happened anymore

Highly recommended for all you dice fiends out there.

These moulds are decidedly mediocre, and not worth using except perhaps as your very first foray into dice casting if you absolutely can't afford anything of higher quality or don't have the expertise to make your own moulds.

Issues with this kind of mould aside, there are several quality control issues I had with the set I received (I have so far only tested the small numbered polyhedral set, so it wouldn't surprise me if there were more). First, the d6 is deformed and does not produce flat faces or straight edges. Second, and far more egregious: the numbers on the d4 are incorrect. The numbers on the cap face do not match the other three faces - and before you ask, yes I did make sure it was on the right way (the caps have tabs with a corresponding slot on the main body of the mould, that act as keys). In fact, the numbers on all of the caps are in a different font to the rest of the dice which makes it hard to imagine that this is an isolated incident.

Honestly, just don't bother with these. Save up and get a better quality set.

3.0 out of 5 stars Moulds work but D4 is not correct
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 June 2022

My first attempt didn't go well, I got too many bubbles in the resin and the act of getting the lids on squeezed some resin out which was replaced with more air so there were voids. Second set was much better, only a few bubbles but then I noticed that the numbering on the D4 is wrong, the lid can only go in one way and it puts the numbers in the wrong place, on the only die that it matters on... I'll have to cut the mould slightly to allow me to put the lid on in the correct orientation. Otherwise they're quite good, but will need polishing. The lid sides are super shiny compared to the other sides.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pick up a cheaper set, probably 2 to make sure you have at least 1 good mold
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 June 2022

First off, don't expect these to be on the same level as the big hobbyist silicone molds, these are just a cheap introduction to making. Having said that, this was a poor set. I imagine most people are using these to make the standard D&D (or other ttrpgs) set, so things like the d24 are a novelty at best. Of the standard set, the d4 had the wrong lid, the d6 is noticeably trapezoidal, and the percentile had excess silicone that needed cutting away. I haven't used the double-size molds yet but several of them look slanted, so probably only a novelty too. 3/6 paints were dried up on arrival (though honestly you shouldn't be using these, use nail polish instead). The other accessories are decent though.

I bought these as a second set, so that I could cast more die with 1 batch of resin. Rating 2 stars might be harsh but my first set were cheaper with less rubbish added in, and had no mistakes with the molds

Not great but I knew that anyway. Using a pipette will always add bubbles..but even filling them up half way without one was difficult. Trying to get those lids on while wearing gloves is not easy. Large voids…most of mine came out half done and very sharp

The molds seem to be pretty good, however, they are a little fiddly when trying to put the tops on to enclose them. Good selection too. Disappointed that 4 out of the 6 pots of gold paint are completely dried up and useless. Sadly couldn’t find a way to speak to the seller to try and fix the problem. Would have been 5 stars if the paint had all been good.

The selection of molds (19) includes a complete small size D&D set, but does NOT include a larger set. The larger size set is missing the D10-tens (with sides 00, 10, 20 30 etc)
