Ideal for my knife collection

I'm really pleased with this whetstone block. I'm entirely happy to use it on my collection of knives. I'm a Prepper and I have a variety of different types of knives. Tactical, hunting, every day carry pocket knives, multitools this is great for them all.
It arrived in perfect condition and and is a high standard of block. I've have a few of these blocks of varying grit levels.
I love the base included with this one. It means it doesn't move around during use. It looks great too.
The instructions included with this are well written and easy to understand. The angle guide included makes it a lot easier to use. Sharpening knives can be a daunting process but with the instructions and the angle guide it makes it trouble free.
I'm glad I got this. I'd be inclined to purchase others in this range of different grit levels based on my satisfaction of the quality of this one.

Needs a level of expertise that I don’t have - practice with old knives first.

Amazon Basic Whetstone dual sided 3000/8000: I am certainly no expert on Sharpening knives with anything other than a manufactured sharpener but having read that most knife sharpeners can ruin your knives I thought I’d take the opportunity to try out a whetstone, which seems to be the most recommended method for good knives.
The whetstone stone comes in a bamboo box which keeps it steady and guides are provided to assist in achieving the correct angle for your knife. I’ve given this stone 3 stars as I’ve managed to scratch those knives I’ve attempted to sharpen despite the guides... and that was only using the 3000 grit side. I suspect the inadequacy is more about me than the stone which looks very much like others on the market. I followed a utube video which made it look very easy but it requires much practice to develop the skill I suspect. Additionally it is recommended that you hone knives weekly and after using the whetstone to ensure that they remain straight.
My recommendation is to practice on old knives before attempting your best chefs knives or better still find a nice man (or women) locally who is an expert and take your knives there!

This sharpening stone kit comes impressively packaged into a box with plenty of protection packaging. The stone is very good quality and the frame and bamboo stand were also sturdy and made from durable materials. The bamboo holder is easy to clean and has a non stick base which really helps in my kitchen when sharp knives are essential. The stone works great with water and I found I could sharpen better and have stability than my old worn stone sat on top of a wet rag.
Both the stone and base are easy to clean and left to dry before storing it away.
I am very satisfied with the quality of this product and I think it represents fantastic value for money.

A blunt knife is much more dangerous than a sharp knife. Slip with a sharp knife and it'll hurt but a clean cut is easier to deal with. A blunt knife will mash and mangle the flesh.

This stone will help keep the edge sharp and make cutting easier and safer.
Make sure you follow the instructions carefully, especially around soaking the stones. I would also recommend practicing with an old knife or buy a a cheap knife. Fat better than ruining a decent knife.

A nice whetstone, that has 2 different grades for sharpening and honing. Always best to place the stone in water for 20 minutes first, then place in the holder and steadily move the blade down, then up applying even pressure, ensuring the blade goes over the whole of the stone to ensure it wears evenly. Always keep applying water for it to work properly and efficiently. On the whole, a nice stone ideal for keeping knives and scissors sharp etc.

After soaking the blocks I got to work on an old, blunt cleaver that's been sitting idle. The directions are easy to follow and once you get the hang of holding the blade at the right angle, it's really easy to start grinding until you get a keen edge. The stone is easy to rinse clean after use and the wooden base grips the work surface well.
