Practical Sandals for a Walking Holiday.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 April 2020
When reviewing the choice of hiking sandals, I was particularly put off by the comments from other reviewers about ill-fitting sizes, and about how you should buy a size larger or smaller than usual or whatever. I decided not to bother with any products where the manufacturers cannot even get the sizes right. I am a size 9.5 UK (44 EUR): that's what I ordered and, yes, these do fit. The laces don't really do anything, but the sandal can be tightened around your foot by use of the velcro clasp at the back. The grip on the sole is deeper and not as feeble as the pictures suggested. The ridging on the upside of the sole helps the foot to stay in place, and was a pleasant surprise. The stitching and general construct looks adequate. For serious hiking you would need very serious footwear with an extremely serious pricetag; these are walking sandals (think exploring Macchu Pichu rather than climbing the Andes beyond). The "fashion" tag on the sandal looks tacky to Western eyes; it probably looks cooler if English is not your first language and Roman script is an exotic alphabet. Finally, the top caps look like they will protect your toes from stubbing. Half an hour of hobbling is not worth a more stylish open toe. The sandals come in a plastic bag rather than a bulking shoe box, which saves on packaging, although you'll need to find something else to bury your hamster in. :) All in all a good, inexpensive buy. Recommended.
