How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Lovely charming chamber piece denied cinema release by the court of metoo public opinion.
There is nothing in this film worth banning. It has been censored from the general public completely in USA so I had to buy this dvd from UK.
I detest monstrosities such as Weinstein etc but to witch-hunt every individual and tar them with the same brush is the road to destruction.

1.0 out of 5 starsDull, trivial, pointless

Woody Allen has been churning these kind of pictures out for years: some are better than others - many are enjoyable. But not this one. I found both the main actors irritating - self-centred, middle-class ninnies on a trip to New York and who, through a series of unbelievable coincidences find their destinies. The dialogue felt forced; there was no tension; none of the characters were likeable. I almost didn't make it to the end (fell asleep first time round and had to go back into it to finish) and quite frankly, I wouldn't have missed anything if I hadn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another FANTASTIC ride with Woody Allen. It SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED PROPERLY.

It takes a little while to get going, and Chalomet's accent is annoying and he's awkward, but wait for it. The payoff is BIG. The female lead character is quintessential Woody, and brilliantly portrayed.

Some of us still believe in great filmmaking. Some of us believe in a system that judges people on EVIDENCE, and merit. Some of us do not listen to the McHollywood Infotainment bilge machine for our culture.

What's too bad is that 25 year old allegation that has been investigated to the point of no return has been allowed to derail and inhibit one of the great Genius's of our time. Gratefully, he's persevered. And as of today, it's the biggest money maker currently.

The work speaks for itself. Well done!

Charming, beautifully shot, and with a stellar cast - in my opinion Allen's film keep getting better with age. His signature style of endearingly eccentric and neurotic leads worked perfectly, I had wondered how such young talent would translate with Allen's classic style but Timothy and Elle were both captivating. The real show stopper for me was the script however, 'A Rainy Day' made me laugh throughout, particularly Fanning's character. I hope everyone will enjoy as much as I did!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very charming and delightful

This movie is not like anything else you'll find in cinemas or streaming. There's no swearing, no violence, no sex even. It's just a delightful love story with quirky characters, great music and breathtaking cinematography. I don't know why it wasn't allowed on general release as there is absolutely nothing controversial about it. If anything, it's a refreshing departure from the violent, predictable, sexually gratuitous stuff that's rolled out in cinemas. Loved it.

Absolutely vintage and much missed Woody Allen. Wonderful Chalamet and Fanning (could we also put in Dakota Fanning next time...). Selena Gomez was so refreshing! Great story, neatly circles back as usual. All the good bits of NYC in one place and Storaro on TOP form-what a delight for the eyes. Welcome back Woody-we forgive you Wonder Wheel!

One of Woody Allen's better movies in recent years. Enjoyable plot, set in some familliar NY neighbourhoods, Great acting, and the Woody Allen angst played very well by Timothée Chalamet. I really cannot understand what all the fuss is about. Well worth watching.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not one of his best

Allen almost always comes up with good stories and great scripts, This story and script are good but......

He really does not understand young people (probably like he did not in Manhattan). There are no posters of Taylor Swift on the walls of the young characters, they do not talk about 'stuff' or go to clubs but go to old fashioned bars for middle aged people.
In fact, the character Gatsby is Allen himself but 50 years ago! He talks about old films, likes old fashioned music and even dresses like Allen back in the day!

In his typical Allen attitude, he looks down on the blonde girl because she does not have his intellect. It should have been the other way round. For a young college girl, a guy talking like a 60 year old man, Allen should have shown how tedious she found him.

Then there is the Latin character (Diego Luna), sigh. He cannot be a more stereotypical Latin guy. When he appears in the film he is dressed like a Zorro (facepalm); he is the one who hits on the girl and pays her ridiculous compliments. He is a cheat and al he wants is to have sex with her. Really annoying character.

A Rainy Day in New York Blu Ray [Nordic Import] - THIS is the blu-ray which you can watch without any subtitles. (Unfortunately I had bought the Polish one first.)

1.0 out of 5 stars A very Woody Allen film

If you like Woody Allen you may enjoy this film, unfortunately I was conscious of his whiney voice in my ear through most of the 'I'm so clever' dialog. I found it quite puerile and dull, and felt embarrassed for Timothée Chalamet who is an amazingly talented young actor. I'm not surprised he donated his salary to charity. Who would want to be associated with such drival.
