How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsAwesome - Highly Recommended if you love Sci-Fi!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 December 2019
I've followed this project from the early crowdfunding days when it was called 'Kaleidoscope Man' and am thrilled to see it completed. Whilst it may not (quite) have the slickness of your ten-a-penny Hollywood 'blockbuster' with a predictable ending we've become so used to seeing, 'Invasion Planet Earth' is an original and ambitious concept brilliantly realised by a dedicated Independent film-maker (Simon Cox). If I have to compare it but without giving too much away, I'd say it's better than the remake of 'The Day The Earth Stood Still', for all that movie's big budget & A-List cast. Very, very impressed by the end result, and happy to purchase and recommend it to anyone who loves science-fiction. And as an aside to aspiring Indie filmmakers - never give up your dreams!! Simon didn't and this is the result. Brilliant!

3.0 out of 5 starsGood and bad
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 February 2020
An independent film, made by scraping funds together over many years and with crowdfunder support, it tries so hard to be spectacular and in some ways it achieves that.

The cgi work must have taken a long time to pull together and is effective but no way has there been sufficient spent on it to make it look as good as possible. But this is indie film and what is delivered is still more adventurous and far reaching than anything else I’ve seen. It’s not great in parts, but plenty of credit to Simon for trying.

In parts the acting is very stilted. A problem of filming over time or with disjointed scenes. The crowd scenes were good with plenty of action in place. A huge story canvas with an interesting twist in the tale.

This was a film that I could have given up on but I didn’t. I didn’t because that would be disrespectful to the filmmaker who has tried, and to an extent succeeded, to give a Hollywood standard sci-fi film with a background of “no money” filmmaking.

Watch it with an open mind. It’s not the best film you’ll ever see, certainly no “Star Wars”, but it certainly above average and filled with dedication and purpose.

Was very happy to hear that this film was finally coming out but unfortunately it was really disappointing.
Acting not up to scratch. Toyah in her brief scenes seemed the only one comfortable.
Too much CGI also not up to scratch and actually not needed.
Interesting story premise although has been done in various ways in other films.
As I said really wanted this to work but it doesn’t and 2 stars is perhaps generous.

Spoilers

As an avid sci-fi fan of many, many years the premise here wasn't bad but the writer should have stuck with the basic idea. There's a lot of bloat in this film that seemed unneccesary. The little segments of the 3 mental patients and the doctor were just bizarre and weren't necessary for me. I did like the way that the doctor waking up in a four poster bed was reminiscent of 2001 and the zombie sequences were more ambitious and better done than much of the stuff in the alien ship.

I have to ask. How does the doctor have a phone signal in an alien ship? How do the four main cast members get out of their pods but everyone else seems comatose in theirs? How does a series of nuclear explosions spread across the globe like the explosion from Independence Day?

There's a lot about this movie that doesn't explain itself. If the creator had stuck to the idea of aliens saving us from our own selves and excluded all the life ressurection based bizarre mini stories then I think there might have been a better movie here. What was all that on the alien planet? For me that was the best special effects of the whole film but I never did get why they were there. Then we get some craziness where the lead guy becomes a superhero of sorts. If it was all a dream created by the aliens then why those four and no one else?

Ignore the dodgy effects, some lightweight acting by some and some terrible extras faces. Good effort spoilt by extravagance. Give the writer some money and someone to proof read his script and he could do well. Marks for perserverence from what I read about this movie, but you don't have to include every idea going. Simple can be just as good.

2.0 out of 5 stars I really want to like it, I respect what they are trying to do, but it is pretty awful.

I didn't not enjoy the film, I wanted a lot more from it, I was constantly wanting everyone to push a little bit harder and make it a little bit better but it's unfortunately a bit rubbish.

It could have been worse. All the way through I was expecting Drew Casson to show up, thankfuly he didn't so its a solid 2 stars.

An alien invasion plot with a twist. Not a bad film, but I don't think the casting was that good and a particularly wooden performance from the leading man who just doesn't fit the role.
Other actors don't seem to be at their best either.

The film almost looks like a random collage of random scenes from random films, without a proper story or direction. I didn't find it worth watching.

Tom threw a rock at this small very advanced spaceship thing and it blew the other way, when I saw this I had to make this comment about how silly this looks.
