Great jacket, slightly short sleeves

I really like this jacket, it is really comfortable, very warm and has a good shower resistance as well as lots of good sized pockets. There is just one drawback which is the sleeve length. I’m 5’11 and don’t have a particularly large wingspan but the sleeves are just a bit too short in the large size for me, the rest of the jacket fits perfectly though.

I recently got this find parka for review and have been eager to try it out. I was going to test it against my Alpha Industries snorkel parka, which is a jacket made to withstand arctic conditions, until realising this seems to be more of a fashion parka that will only suffice in temperatures a few degrees above zero.

The quality of this jacket is reasonably good with good stitching, but it does have a few hallmarks of a cheapish jacket such as thinner, less durable outer fabric, cheaper polyester fill, and smaller, less robust zippers that lack toggles to use with gloves.

The outer fabric used on this jacket is 64% Cotton and 36% Nylon. Cotton on a winter parka jacket is not very common as it absorbs moisture (rain) and is not waterproof; However, this jacket appears to be water-resistant so it must have a DWR water-resistant coating, which is not specified. The zippers are also the water-resistant version. I've tested this in the rain, and it seems to cope OK - water seems to bead off the fabric well.

The interior of the jacket is lined with a soft polyester fabric, which has a slight sheen that looks nice.

For insulation, this jacket uses a standard polyester fill. You'll find the same stuff is used in most cheaper winter jackets. I didn't think it would be that warm, but it's warmer than I expected. It obviously can't compete with my Alpha industries Parka, which uses a warm down fill. This jacket should cope with temps hovering above zero; although, I've only managed to test this down to 4 degrees. The hood is also insulated and lined with a lovely velvet fabric, not the cheap looking sherpa fleece which usually features somewhere on cheaper winter jackets. The faux fur is lovely quality and looks good too - It's made of 64% Acrylic, 17% Moda-Acrylic, and 19% Polyester. The fur wraps all the way around and almost works like a snorkel parka.

Fit is a bit odd for me - I have a 44-inch chest and have broad shoulders with longish arms. I was given "Large" which fits fine around the waist and chest, but the arms are really short - shorter than any jacket I've tried. If you have long arms then avoid this; otherwise, it's fine. I'm a bit disappointed about the short arms because this is otherwise a decent, comfortable fitting jacket and very lightweight.

Overall, this is an excellent parka for the price and perfect for those brisk winter walks. Sadly, I'm unable to use this due to the short arms and had to pass it along to my Nephew who loves it.

This parka – like other garments I’ve had in the Find range – is very well made. It’s not designed for freezing Arctic conditions, but gives decent protection against cold, wet, windy weather. There’s no shortage of deep pockets – a zippered one either side of the chest, one inside, two good-sized ones for keeping hands warm, and a smaller one on the left sleeve. The elasticated cuffs are comfortable, and the concealed front zipper has a good-sized tab that glides smoothly. The draw cords for waist adjustment are strong, and quick and easy to use.

One small criticism: the hood is a little big for me, so a draw cord here would have been ideal.
Laundry instructions state Dry Clean Only - but muddy marks have been easy to clean with a wipe of a damp cloth.
All things considered, this is a good quality parka, and I like the dark navy colour.

Underarm seam to wrist - 39.5cm 15.5”
Nape to hem - 81.25cm 32”
*Please note that although the chest measurement of the coat is 117cm 46”, it’s a little snug on a 42” chest – this must be because of the padding.

A stylish and warm coat.The coat is good at what it does, keeps you warm, gives you somewhere readily accessible to store your essential items ( phone wallet etc) and keeps light rain off you.

The cost has a medium padding, it does not bulk you up, but has enough padding to cope with the British winter. The padding is sewn into sections to stop it all falling and gathering at the bottom of the coat.
There are plenty of pockets- 2 popper closed types on the hip and 2 zip closed type on the chest as well as an internal Velcro closing pocket on the chest.
The hood is fur lined, and pretty large, it does tend to fall back down by itself if I don’t have a hat on, it would have benefited from a draw string.
The coat has a draw string in the waist area, this is held in place with a toggle stopper. It gives you the option to wear it loose or pull it in tight, great for super cold days where you need a jumper under it and equally good for days where you can wear just a thing top under it.
It is not waterproof, it can be sprayed with a water resistant spray if you want, it it doesn’t offer much protection against heavy and persistent rain.
The zipper has an additional popper closed flap to stop wind chill and the sleeves have an internal elasticated cuff for the same reason.

Looks wise it is nothing fancy, there are no flashy names or labels and it is very simple- just how I like things.
The fit is true to size.

The 'FIND Cotton Parka, Blue (Navy), 42 (Size: Large)' is a medium weight men's/unisex parka jacket, in an attractive deep navy shade. The size I received was large, so I expected it to be a fairly loose fit (I am female and wear size 12-14) but it is actually not, so I assume that either it is intended to be slim fit or the sizing is a little off. The upper arms in particular would be an issue for a gentleman with biceps of any girth, so definitely order larger than you'd think if you're muscly.

The material feels nice, and I was impressed to note that the zips are all sealed against water ingress. There are lots of pockets, including a small zipped one in the bicep area on one arm. It is lightly padded but not overly so, and should be well suited to autumn and early winter wear.

The listing isn't currently active on the amazon site so I am unable to comment upon value for money, but this is a quality coat which looks smart, just be cautious with the sizing.

Firstly I'd suggest having a look at the images on the product's page; what you see is what you'll get. The fit was fine with enough room inside to wear a jumper in the winter. As an out and out winter coat, there's much better available, but a 4 or 5 times the cost!

In use it's warm enough to stand waiting for a bus in the winter and whilst not waterproof it will offer some protection from the rain. I think the main attraction of this jacket is its styling 'coolness', it really does look great whether zipped up or worn open. The pockets are generous and the zips run smoothly. Overall the quality of the cut, stitching and finish is excellent and there have been no issues or problems during regular wear.

Anything not to like? Not really, the hood could do with a draw-string but I'm not sure the fashion conscious would be seen out with the hood up anyway!
