Was a 5 star immediately after receiving and wearing the jumper, 3 months later I'm dropping it down to 1 star.
In the space of 3 months I've worn it maybe 4 times? And washed it 3, on a cool wash like I do all my clothes. The u-g-o, and o-s-s have all started to peel away from the jumper, it's only been ironed inside out and never over the lettering and it's never been in a tumble dryer (bought in June, it's August now after all) so letters should not be peeling off a £65 jumper. The stitching is coming undone in 6 separate places too, both armpits, the collar, one cuff, one midsection part and right on the waistband. To look at it closely you'd think a 50 stone man had tried it on and broke almost every seam.
I said in the original review that at that price you'd expect the lettering to be embroidered, not printed, and this has shown me why I originally thought that.
Incredibly disheartened by this, I've been wearing Boss stuff since my late teens, so a good 20 years now, and in the past 5 years or so I've noticed a huge decline in the quality of Boss products. It's as if the more places you see Boss clothing on sale, and the more people to see wearing it, the lower the quality gets - the prices are still quite high though.
I've stated on another Boss product I bought here on Amazon at the same time that I'll no longer be buying Hugo Boss, until such a time I've seen the quality has improved back to their previous high standards.
At the present moment they're selling clothes that aren't worth £6.50 for £65, which implies their manufacturing process has gone dirt cheap to knock as much of the stuff out as possible. I own a Family guy jumper bought from Primark 10 years ago for about £8, I wear it to bed in winter, and I couldn't even guess how many times it's been worn and washed but it's easily in the triple figures, probably around 300 times, and unbelievably the lettering on that which is very similar in size and font to this Boss jumper, still looks as good as the day I bought it. If Primark can manage to make something with longevity like that, and still make a profit at £8, exactly how much profit are Boss making, selling a much inferior product, for almost ten times the price? I'm genuinely flabbergasted how quickly this jumper deteriorated, I expected to get at least a years wear out of a £65 item and it didn't even make it from mid summer to autumn. And of course the time has passed in which I can claim a refund or replacement. To think positively, at least I've now got a ugo oss jumper to wear to bed in winter - but I won't be buying Boss ever again til I've seen things online that repute them to have gone back to their old standards and the quality improves tenfold.
For anyone reading, avoid this product, even when it's the £35 price I've seen it go down to a few times since my purchase. It's not even worth a tenner, you'll get 2-5 wears out of it before it'll become a lounge around the house or gardening item.
I even had suspicions it could be counterfeit, but I've seen the exact same item in a well known high street shop and everything is identical, this jumper is indeed a genuine Hugo Boss product, it just happens to have the awful quality of a fake. Be wary of other high reviews, as stated at the start mine was a 5 star too after first getting it. I've come back after some time now and given my time passed review, I'd suspect a few others have found out after some time that initial high opinion has drastically changed.
I wish I'd have read a review like this before buying, there was a lovely Paul Smith top I had my eye on but chose to get this instead, now the PS item has skyrocketed in price and I'm stuck with a ugo oss pyjama top with holes all over it.
You live and learn.
