Cracking trainer for running

So, currently 18.5 stone, been running for a few years averaging 5-7 miles per run 2/3 times per week @ 9 min miles. I originally bought some Patriots 7's a few year ago, they lasted 2 years. Went to get my Gait measured and was up sold Gel all singing and dancing Asics Gel DS for c£90, I have had to wear double skin trainer socks since I bought them....they lasted less than 1 year...few weeks ago I had an Amazon voucher burning a hole in my pocket and looked for Patriot 7's obvs these are the newer version. bit skeptical due to price and reviews...tried them on wasn't overly enamored either way...then I thought I'll go give them a whirl on the treadmil...2nd best trainer I have owned for running beating Nike, Adidas and Asics Gel

Sizing problem

I bought these running shoes about a month ago and ordered my usual size 9 uk I got them pretty fast and tried them but they were far to big.
I returned them I had to pay for return postage, I wanted a exchange for a have size smaller but they could not supply them in 8.5 so I got patriot 11 instead and now they are slightly tight. So beware of these asics for sizing problems.
On the plus side they are very comfortable and light.

Great value for the price, used as a backup running shoe

I purchased this as a back up running shoe to my current brooks which costs 3 times the value of these, so how close to the comfort, cushioning and feel to the more expensive pair are they? Well not that close it turns out. Don’t get me wrong, these are a great pair of running shoes for the price but only when you put on a more expensive pair will you realise the benefit. Before I got into running my early running shoes were Asics ones much like these. My last backup pair was Asics patriot 6’s which done me proud for 800 km before I retired them.
The Patriot 10’s is very light however I don’t get the cushioning while running that I would on my other pair especially when you run off of a flat path onto dry mud or grass. They do their job well as a backup shoe and perform well especially on concreate or tarmac paths. For the value I would recommend them or anyone just getting into running. I am yet to try them on my local parkrun to assess the times however during the current lockdown I am about 1 minute slower in these on a 5k loop against my other pair.

I'm not wearing these for running, these are for general walking around in. They are nice and comfy, and I did have a little jog in them and they felt fine then too. I've bought quite a few pairs of Asics now, more expensive ones for running and cheaper ones for casual wear, and they always seem good.

Had Patriot 7 version and they were great. These are same though the 10.5 size is large for me. The 7 version was fine for my feet but these are a little on the big size, not an issue as I just weat heavier running socks.
