To be honest, I always wondered about the justification of the £75 price tag Ridge wallets carry. I'm probably missing something, but there just doesn't seem to be enough to warrant the outlay. But I always liked the idea of the design and I'm always bending cards in my pocket
So when I saw this, it was about the price range I always expected to find these. It doesn't come with an adjustment tool, but nor does it require one. The box is quite nice if you're giving it as a gift (as I was to myself. I was surprised and pleased)
The wallet itself feels nice. It's smooth and shiny and feels quite sturdy. It also doesn't feel like it's going to yield in any way or come apart. Of course, time will tell with regard to build-quality and resilience. I always have my wallet in my back pocket (hence the cards bending) and I've felt no creaks or cracks. Well, in the wallet at least
I've based my score on my expectation of this wallet and not as a reference to other wallets. This is important because this can be a tricky little beasty to use. Removing cards can take some practice, a running start and a 20-minute headstart. I'm sure I'll either get used to it or spend less. On balance, I'd currently prefer a bit of faff getting cards out to risk having them damaged by my bum
If you get one of these and after putting in your cards notice the wallet has become wedge-shaped, remove the cards and put them back in with the raised writing towards the closed edge of the wallet. The raised writing causes a slight variation in thickness and the elastic on the closed edge makes it look a lot worse. It's a minor detail, but I wouldn't be buying a wallet like this if the minor details were unimportant
[UPDATE] This wallet has saved my Christmas finances! I couldn't get any cards out to spend on them! :-) 6 stars!
