Top critical review
Another rushed product, sent out before efficient testing.

So I very recently purchased a refurb 7th gen kindle paperwhite. I think it's an amazing bit of kit, wish I had got one years ago. It feels great to hold, appears to be durable. The screen feels like I'm reading from a page of an old book when I dim the brightness. (about halfway)
The new kindle came out, with more bells and whistles, so I purchased this knowing I could return my refurb one. Not that anything was wrong, just the newer one would be better.. Right? WRONG.
So I should start by saying, I did quality assurance for broadcasting, testing the equipment and more importantly the video output. So I'm straight up fussy quality assurance engineer.
The new kindle is very light, and very plastic.. It's an uchi fi feeling in your hand. Asif you've just purchased a cheap Chinese knock off. Does not give me confidence in its durability at all. Aswell as lack of surface grip on the back.
My biggest problem is the lightning. Its extremely radiant fluorescent. In other words, fake.. It totally takes away the authentic feeling of reading from a book. It's actually alot similar to a kindle fire tablet, without the glare. Though with a fire tablet, you're able to put blue shade on, which actually makes it more authentic than the new paperwhite kindle.
The image quality appears to have dropped too. Now I'm comparing the exact same small image on both kindle paperwhites, the latest has lower quality edges. This could be due to the lighting, as the black colour is more faded. Could also be due to different software..
The last thing, and this is purely personal preference; the white "Kindle" logo at the bottom of the paperwhite. This gripes me. There's nothing worse than having a logo so obvious in your eyesight. It's as bad as having a over empowering watermark on video. Every page you read will end in Kindle.
I was reluctant to replace a book with technology, but the kindle 7th gen made this transition alot easier with its authentic look of pages. I will be keeping it and returning the latest.
The picture I attached, will appear to show a much sharper latest kindle (on right), this is due to the back light. My camera was not set up for the white balance (I really wasn't going to go into this depth) but what it does demonstrate, is the 7th gen having a more authentic book look.
