Really good fit and isn't bulky,

Really pleased with this. It is easy to put on and the laptop closes completely without squeezing the plastic in. It's boring to look at but functional. Job done!

I don't know if it will be easy to clean. If there is any issues I will be back to let you know.

Good keyboard cover, thin material has positives and benefits

overall really good keyboard cover. having discovered this i can't see myself using the laptop without one (given i've personally had to have the keyboard repaired three times since i bought the laptop 2.5 years ago).

the upside of the thin material is that it barely feels different to the real keyboard, and because of the slightly tacky finish, it adds more grip - this could be good or bad depending on how you type but i got used to it.

the downside however is as the first picture shows the cover's developed a bulge around the bottom of the space bar. i had hoped this would go but it hasn't and shows no sign of doing so. whilst this is a small issue, it is very annoying and does allow a small amount of dust to get underneath that section of the space bar. there's not much that can be done i don't think, but the rest of it is fine so maybe i've just been a bit unlucky

I considered buying a cover for my keyboard some time ago when I was buying other Macbook accessories but I put it off as I had other more pressing things to buy & then I forgot about it.

However this week, I suffered an issue which appears to be a common fault for the Macbook Pro 2017 with those god-awful butterfly keys!
So, whilst typing, one of the keycaps came loose. Yes, it just came off whilst I was using the Macbook. Now, a quick google search of this turns up hundreds of disgruntled Macbookers who have also suffered a similar problem & Apple seems to be in 2 minds about this "issue". Some people report success in getting Apple to put their hands up to admitting this keyboard wasn't the best of designs & fix their MacBooks under warranty, others were not so lucky.

A few phone calls to various Apple outlets & Apple customer services basically resulted in an offer of taking my Macbook along for it to be sent away for repair, but I can't afford to be without it at present since I need it for work so needed to come up with a plan.

Initially, I attempted to fix the key myself with a replacement keycap, however getting the exact right model online, appears to be pretty impossible & a complete game of chance. It would work if I could actually get the right fit.

Then I had a brainwave & instead bought this cover. My logic being since the key still works, but just moves whenever I press it, then the fix is to simply find a way to stop it moving by securing it down. So, if I have a cover which stops it lifting, then problem solved.
So, now the keyboard cover is fitted, the loose keycap stays put, I am not at risk of getting anything in the keyboard such as crumbs, dust etc & I don't have to worry about trying to get to an Apple store with a Mac Tech, to get my keyboard fixed, in the middle of a pandemic.

On the plus side again - an unexpected bonus is that this cover slightly muffles the awful clicking noise of the keys. It doesn't get rid of it totally ( I don't think anything will ever mute it fully) but it's made it softer, quieter click and therefore more bearable.

So, some people have been asking where do you put the stickers (It comes with some clear double-sided stickers). Well, the simple answer is put them wherever you like. They are designed to keep the keyboard in place, so put them on the corners to keep it from lifting or moving when pressing things such as the delete key. I have mine on each corner & the space bar. I've been typing all day & it hasn't budged. I would imagine that if you have any double-sided, thin tape you could add more if you wish, but the supplied ones are doing a pretty good job.

So I'm happy with my cover & would recommend.

I started having faults when word processing including the cursor jumping back 2-3 lines above and eventually the left hand shift key failing to work. It was the latter that made me realise it was a keyboard problem and not a fault wit the program in some way. Having had the relatively new MacBook Pro repaired, I was told that Apple had a problem with the keyboard design of this model, and the way to prevent this happening was to use a keyboard cover. My first has lines around each key. This my second, and while not so 'glamorous' it is actually much better. The surface of each key might be described as 'matte' and I prefer this to a shiner layer plastic. It fits very well except it lifts vey slightly on the top edge in one place. (here 4 * and not 5*. I would recommend 1st. a cover is necessary, and not a vanity project, 2. take great care comparing at images to make sure the cover fits your model - don't rely on descriptions. 3. It is so easy for tiny bits of dust. to get into the keyboard (eg dandruff). There is no reason that you would find it difficult to take the cover off it., but you can also turn the laptop upside down give it a heavy tat on the back. It took me awhile to open the package! Happy to recommend.

Very nice keyboard cover, It isn't completely see-through however, it is very good for the price. In all honesty I bought this for my MacBook Pro 2020 and because the keyboard if different from the 2019 model I wasn't expecting it to fit, but surprisingly it does BUT it does not cover the physical escape key that was added on the 2020 MacBook Pro and the left and right arrow keys are different because they were slightly bigger on the 2019 model than the 2020, and lastly, the keys on the 2020 model are slightly more elevated than the 2019 because of the change of the keyboard mechanism. It is still definitely usable on the 2020 model, however the cover does sometimes lift off because of the different elevation in keys. However, its only done that once with me. I do recommend this product however only use it on 2019 MacBook Pro because that's what is suited for, you can still use it on the 2020 model it just won't be perfect on all of the keys and does not cover the new physical escape key. I don't know about the 16" MacBook Pro because I use the 13" MacBook Pro 2020 so I have no idea whether it will work on the 16".

Protecting Apple's flakey keyboard

Having bought a new Macbook Pro 13" and read about the issues with the new keyboards when they get any foreign objects in them, I decided to get a cover for the keyboard to try and stop this from happening.
I have to say that this is a fantastic cover for the keyboard, sits beautifully in place with the thin adhesive strips and is incredibly thin meaning it doesn't appear to leave any marks on the screen when the Mac is closed.
Only slight downside is the keyboard backlight doesn't work well through it, but this is unavoidable.
Overall I'm very happy with this and would recommend to any Macbook owner worried about their fragile keyboard!

Overall I am very pleased with the item, its super thin, doesn't effect typing or view of the keys at all, the only problem I had was I pulled the thin sticky strips off as I did't want them leaving any residue on the Mac but made it worse as the glue smeared onto the keyboard cover and it is impossible to get off. So now have smudge marks on the keyboard cover which are visible. Tried everything on it, bar keepers friend, the lot.

Other than that little mishap very very pleased with the cover

Doesn't stay in place whilst typing

This seems like a good product, it is a good idea at least. However it does not stay in place as well as it should to give you a non-interruptive typing experience. The cover comes up frequently when typing, especially on the left-hand side of the keyboard around the shift and caps lock keys. Left-shift is one of the most important keys on the keyboard and to have the cover raise up half the time you press it gets very infuriating. It is worth mentioning that the cover comes with some stickers which I assume are supposed to be used as an extra adhesive to stop the keyboard from moving. However, these stickers are quite large and will have to be placed on top of keys, ruining the look (and function in some cases) of your keyboard. These stickers are not shown in the photos of the cover in use.

That aside, it is thin and will prevent debris and small spills of liquid from getting to your keys. I rate 2 stars as it achieves what it sets out to but at the cost of the typing experience on the keyboard.

I don’t often write reviews, but when something really impresses me I do and this is one of those products.

It looks great, ultra thin and easy to clean. I didn’t even have to stick it down. It simply fits snug against my keyboard without any issues.

I was so impressed that I’ve also ordered a second one along with a cover for the trackpad on my MacBook Pro (2019) model.

Worth the money if your worried about any potential butterfly keyboard issues (not that I have had any) or simply don’t want to keep on wiping fingerprints off the keys.

Previous to this keyboard cover, I had a different clear cover which was making it difficult to type on my Macbook and made the overall experience a little frustrating.

I took a chance on buying this keyboard cover and it is miles better. I am able to use the keyboard as normal without worrying about any dust/debris getting into the keyboard. Typing with the cover on is relatively easy and only took a few minutes to get used to it.

Happy with my purchase and it definitely surprised me.
