Probably a good hiking shoe, but a little tight

I had my last pair of Merrell shoes for over 3 years before they started tearing. I tried other brands but none were as comfortable as my Merrells. Unfortunately the exact shoe was discontinued, so I went through all the options on amazon and ordered 3 styles: the Alverstone, this, and the All Out Blaze Aero. I do not hike that much, but I like the support and traction for whenever I do. For the most part, I was looking for daily shoes for me to wear to work. So YMMV depending on your desire for the shoe. This shoe was a bit narrower and tighter feeling in the standard width than all the other Merrell shoes I've tried. They also definitely felt larger and heavier. For only hiking, they might be the better option, but I returned them.

For comparison sake: The Alverstone was the best all-around of the 3. The Blaze was super light and comfy, but I hadn't realized that the material was mostly a mesh which means water would go right into it. At first that was a disqualifier, but when I realized the number of times that would be an actual issue for me was very small, I decided to keep them and they are my daily shoe now. I kept the Alverstone as well for winter hiking and snowy days and to prolong the life of both. The Alverstones aren't as comfy as my old ones, but they're pretty close.

I got these Friday, 20 Aug, and took them the next day on a hard 10 mile Mountaineering hike through rough terrain and water to the top of a 12k peak in Idaho. It rained and snowed along the way and I never lost traction. My main complaint is that they deteriorate extraordinarily quickly! As seen in the pictures, the stitching is coming out, the lettering is disolving, and the rubber is not holding up well. These might last me one season...

Was a great disc golf shoe, but no longer waterproof after less than a year

I've used these a lot for disc golf over the past 10 months. They worked well for a while, but my socks were completely soaked through after walking through wet grass today. Parts of the sole are pulling away from the sides of the shoe. These are probably fine for some casual use, but if you're going to be using them for anything more than walking, I'd expect them to wear out in less than a year.

A whole size too small

I normally wear a size 10.5 in all my shoes except Merrell. I know from prior purchases to buy a half size larger. So I ordered a size 11 just like my two previous pairs. I tried them on and walked around a little and they did not fit right. They simply were to small. So back they’ll go and I’ll order the 11.5 to see if they fit.

Disappointed in the laces

I've had about 6 pair of these Merrell shoes. I keep buying them because I like the shoe. But the laces always fail way before the shoes fail. Merrell apparently doesn't sell the same laces so it is a gamble each time I need to try to find comparable laces.

Decent shoe, don't count on waterproof

First thing I did with these after putting them on was to walk outside and stand in a puddle over the laces. They were waterproof on arrival. That didn't last more than 2 months, then walking in wet grass soaked my feet. I've only hiked with them once or twice in that time.
