For almost $20, this isn't a wise purchase to keep your lighter dry.

This is in my bug-out kit. A Bic is one of the several redundancies to make fire, so great to have. However, I feel somewhat taken advantage of by the marketing and price point of this item.

It's a silicone sleeve and hard plastic cap, that specifically fits a Bic classic. It is made to keep your lighter dry for when you need it. I knew this going in and looked past the price in hopes it's utility would prove worthy.

The "feature" that supposedly holds down the gas lever on the lighter doesn't work. It immediately slips off with substantial tension. If I'm supposed to soak this thing in alcohol or some other stringent to get this to work... I feel that should have been done prior to packaging for this price.

The closure of the cap and body doesn't seem very well thought out. There is no clicking/locking mechanism to keep it in place, just some raised silicone ribs on the sleeve that hold it on by friction. While this may work for most of the time, I used some paracord to attach the two together. Again, how much does this cost? Another point that would make the price more tolerable.

Not sure where this is actually made. Cell phone cases use twice the material at half the price, with more complex forms. They must be milking the camping/hiking/preparedness community, as I can't justify the price I paid for the product I received.

It just doesn't give me that good feeling that I normally get when you add a new piece to your kit that is supposed to make it better.

Not worth the cost now that I have the item. Somewhat cumbersome to use, good in theory from the pictures but not so much in practice. I would say overall the product is worth about $5 based on functionality once you receive it.
