Disappointing poor fit - over-tight across the foot
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 September 2016
Attractive-looking shoes and labelled as W so are supposedly 'wide-fit' but they feel far too tight across the feet. One foot is slightly swollen after a minor injury and the shoe is excessively tight to the point of causing intense pain. The shoe for the other foot is also over-tight, slightly painful to wear but mostly just uncomfortable. In neither instance were the laces tied! Previously, a D fit in most brands, G for Clarks, was always worn and proved comfortable. It is only post-injury that a roomier shoe had been needed.
I have another pair of shoes, a sale purchase from two years ago and not previously worn which are a D fitting that are roomier, far more comfortable to wear and cause far less pain and discomfort than these. As there had never been a prior instance of ill-fitting with anything Clarks, it has to be assumed that they are now manufactured to a far narrower fit than was previously the case.
Although Clarks had long been the only brand of shoe worn, in recent years another brand has been worn almost to the exclusion of any other and had proven a good fit, correctly sized etc at least until very recently. That is the reason for the purchase but they are to be returned.
