I'm somewhat disappointed in swimming shorts. Somehow they are too large. They certainly are not sleek and close-fitting. Also, the belt design is horrendous. Since it doesn't go all the way around the waist of the short--whose idea was this?! I'd never purchase this swim short again. My "old" swim short was made by Columbia, but something seems to have happened in the design and quality department.

The kettle stone gray color was fantastic! Natural looking colors are difficult to find. They run kinda big and the belt doesn't go all the way around it's more for decoration. If you use heavy force to propel yourself off the pool wall you might leave these elastic-based boardshorts behind. We returned them, they looked a little dorky from behind with all that bunched elastic too. The belted section did look nice though.

Can't see how these shorts ever got into production. The web belt only goes to the middle of the sides, unlike all other Columbia shorts I've bought (at least eight), where the belt--if included--goes completely around the waist. Without a complete belt, it's not possible to cinch up the waist to keep the trunks on tightly when necessary--say, for swimming, or any other activity, even walking! Found this out too late to return these clunkers, so they'll go into the rag/scrap bag...

There've been some changes made compared to my older eagle shorts. It's apparent that Columbia has used cheaper material for the pockets and their belt "system" (especially the belt material, it's thinner material). The belt takes a lot of the stress when being pulled Why would you use a lesser quality material for something that takes the most stress? The material for the outer shell is still ok but it too has a cheaper/thinner feel. i guess they'll do for now but I have a feeling my older shorts are going to outlast the newer ones.

These shorts are terrible, they are flimsy and the quality of the material is very low. I purchased Columbia Men's Snake River II Water Swim Shorts a few years back and they are fantastic. Too bad I did not purchase 6 or 8 pair of those shorts back then, if I knew that the quality of the Columbia shorts was eventually going to fall so low I would have.

I almost didn't buy these based on several one and two star reviews that cited how the design of these swim trunks was bad and a complete departure from Columbia trunks they had purchased in the past. If that is the case, then earlier Columbia trunks of the past must have been the gold standard in the history of swim trunks. These are by far the best fitting and most comfortable trunks that I have owned in years.

I purchased this as a second pair of swim shorts. Except for the color and the zippered “secure” pocket, it is identical. The zippered pocket is on the side rather than on the front of the trunks. I like it in the front where I can feel that what I have put in the pocket is still there, but am happy with the purchase and should do the job.

Unless this fits exactly out of the box, you cannot tighten the shorts with the strap. The strap does not go all the way around the waist but ends on the sides of the shorts. So, if you try to tighten the shorts, the strap pulls to one side and really looks goofy and I have bought a ton of Columbia clothing. This piece is not designed to work properly. Returning.

Because of the fake belt, I can no longer use. The belt does not go all the way around and because I've lost a lot of weight I can not tighten enough. This has been a problem since day one. To save probably 10 cents worth of material they ruined the whole suit. Would not recommend or buy again!
