Used them for the first time today. Went through what appeared to be one of the Great Lakes on the side of the road. Get home. Take them off. Shoes dry. Sit down. Write review.

I'm slightly worried about the durability, but only time will tell.

EDIT: November update - heavy rain season started again, and once again I'm amazed with these. Half an hour cycling through rain and huge puddles - completely dry. Plus, Fair Wear and eco-friendly! I promise I'm not a shill.
They are a bit fiddly to put on, but not sure what I expected there.

EDIT: November update no 2 - I'm buying a second pair. These things are life-savers.

EDIT: November 2019 update - year and a half now, original pair still going strong. I do cycle pretty much door to door, so minimal walking with them on.
Anyway, the only time my shoes get wet is at my destination, when I have to take the things off.

Not actually waterproof

I would say these stop 'splashes' from drenching your shoe, but what they don't do, critically, is keep the water from coming down your calf - in other words, the whole top part of the gaiter doesn't really work. You need more than a loose bit of material and strip of velcro to do that. I took them off just now after a very wet 9 mile ride into work, and am sitting here with socks soaking wet from the ankle up. Also, I noticed when I took them off, there was water on the inside of the shoe part as well - that might possibly be perspiration or collateral splashing (I am wearing meshed trainers) but I doubt it - I think some of the bigger puddles I went through penetrated.

So - all in all - one star! Now looking for better ones, with £40 in mind.

As an avid cyclist you would’ve thought these would have already been in my inventory.
However for years cycling with wet boots and socks and cuffs of my joggers, these beauties stumbled into my life.
Very easy to fit and a nice fit. They’re well sealed and very waterproof.
I do however wear waterproof trousers over the top of these as the Shoe waterproofs go only so far up my leg.
But these are nothing but the best.
You will not regret this choice.

My first impression on unwrapping this product was that it was a bit flimsy. However on putting it to use I soon found that not to be an issue. I have had issues with another overshoe being very difficult to put on and take off, but no such problems with this one. The hook and loop tape (popularly known as "Velcro"®) snaps open and closed quickly and easily.

Be mindful that to be effectively waterproof this product must be used with a suitable shoe, i.e. one with impervious sole and sides - no leaks. The overshoe prevents ingress of water from above. Not effective if used with canvas shoes, sandals or similar. Most cycling shoes should be fine. For best effect, use with over-trousers overlapping the tops. Less effective with shorts, though probably still better than nothing.

Its light construction means that it folds up very compactly - easy to pack away to take on a cycling holiday. The downside is that the material under the toe is rather thin - hence the recommendation not to walk and real distance in them. It is a pity that they are not reinforced in this area.

I have found them to be very effective during cycling on a wet day - they keep my feet bone dry. If however you do energetic cycling over a substantial distance, dampness from perspiration from within may be unavoidable.

Altogether I am well pleased with this product.

Dry feet at last !!

These are are absolutely amazing!! They actually work. I have purchased about 5 other different cycling shoe covers in the last few years and these are hands down the best . They are without a doubt the most waterproof and the only pair which have kept my feet complete dry. I live in England (which is wet) and up until covid , commuted to work every day in all weather. I also love long cycles on the weekends and these covers have kept my feet dry in the heaviest of rain. In terms of looks - they are a little bulky and probably not the most stylish, but in my opinion function is more important than form and these are 100% functional. In terms of durability, they have held up well. They have started to wear out underneath we’re I have kept the covers on my shoes and walked in them between the bike stands and the showers at my work. All footwear eventually wears out so I’d say that the wear I have experienced is consistent with their use. In terms of keeping these clean, I have even machine washed these a few times at 30c ! I like these so much and they are cost effective enough that I have bought a second pair ready for when these eventually wear out.

These came through the post yesterday a day before expected. Size 44/46 is a good fit for a UK Size 10 shoe. The material is thinner than I expected but that's no problem as shoe and gaiter fit neatly into the toe clips. There are three bits of velcro at the back for fixing together with a 2 inch leeway. A bit fiddly to do but I'm sure I'll get used to it. The tops are elasticated, so if you do them up tight enough water shouldn't run down your leg into your shoe. First impressions are very good, just need some rain to test them in now. Might seem a bit overpriced when you see what turns up, but if they do the job and last a few years I won't complain.

These are the best - I've had some grief with cheaper shoe covers. One type nearly crashed me when a strap underneath snagged in my SPDs. These VAUDE ones are well designed - have a strap underneath but clear of the peddle. No zips to break or snag - and feature a neat tightening strap easy to reach on the top (made me realize I had then on the wrong feet - need to be pulling this tab _away_ from the crank...

I like the easy way to put on over cycle shoes. They provide good protection from the spray generated from wet and grime of N European road surfaces in winter. Removing an cleaning them is a wipe down daily and maybe a weekly machine wash with other riding gear. Some slight wear on the outer edges through contact with pedals and other surfaces after a long winter means they should last a couple of winters. Bargain.

I'm now on my third pair of these gaiters, which have kept my work shoes dry on my 30 minute commute over several years. I've gone for yellow for the first time, after two black pairs. They are very bright, although look grubby quickly (more so than the black). The only negative is that they can slip off occasionally if you don't fasten them properly... hence why I've needed to get occasional replacements; if you do them up properly, though, they're fine.

These are waterproof and protect your shoe from rain and spray. Combine these with waterproof trousers (gaiters on first then trousers over the top) and waterproof over jacket and you're able to ride pretty much anywhere in the rain. Just unzip at the end of your journey or when it dries up.

Only flaw is the price. £20 is on the higher side of reasonable, but if they keep working for the next couple of years its an ok price.
