How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsInstant comfort
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 July 2020
With a strained Achilles’ tendon I needed walking boots that supported the ankle and cushioned the heel. Other Timberland footwear I had was comfortable and I hoped that these would be too. Not disappointed. Firm but really comfortable. No wearing in - ideal right out of the box

1.0 out of 5 starsMust be fake

I have worn Timberland boots in the past and loved them but bought these 3 months ago, waited a month for them to arrive from USA which was a bit annoying but I got over it. I’ve worn them for 2 months and as you can see in the pictures the soles are coming apart. I wore the previous pairs in the same way, for work 5 days a week and didn’t have this happen. You can see in the 4th picture that the sole is hardly worn but it’s coming apart from the boot in several places. I’m so disappointed and especially with how it’s been dealt with! Having only been offered a 15% refund I decided to warn people off.

2.0 out of 5 stars Taille trop petit 1/2 à une pointure !

2.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable Boot, But.....
Reviewed in the United States on 18 January 2017
Size Name: 12.5 UKColour Name: Md Brown Full GrainVerified Purchase
Very nice boot, seemingly well made and tough. I added an aftermarket padded insole and was immediately able to walk over 7 miles, three days in a row without a break-in period.

HOWEVER, after just my fourth day of wearing these boots one of the riveted eyelets on the left boot broke and came out of the leather hole, so now I have to take it to shoe repair to get fixed (hopefully). If they can't fix it reasonably I'm sending them back.

A shame because these are very comfortable boots. I should not have to pay for a repair because of shoddy craftsmanship.

I'll revise the review as this issue progresses.

2.0 out of 5 stars Repeat customer disappointed by drop in quality9

I have purchased at least 6 pair of these over the last 10 years. I swap them out as needed when in they get wet to allow them to dry. Obviously I loved them when I first purchased them, but the last 2 pairs have dropped in quality significantly. They have been far less comfortable, which is a bit subjective. I have even replaced the in soles with some Timberland Pro ones that I love in my other boots,, but there isn't as much support in the footbed. The "leather" has worn really badly with a lot less wear than the previous pairs. I wore out the soles on the first 3 pairs but the leather was cracking a little but still serviceable. The newer ones only get worn on dry days because the water resistance of the older ones have been replaced by dew on grass getting your feet wet. (HARDLY WATERPROOF AS THE TAG ON THE SIDE SAYS) I rated 2 stars because they are better than the cheapest hikers you can buy at a big box store. They used to be a great buy, but unfortunately no longer, they are $50 boots now for $80 . You can see in the pictures that the soles look near new but the leather is very worn and the toe is starting to separate. These new ones are made in Cambodia. The next to last pair was made in Vietnam and had slightly better leather wear. I have replaced them with a pair of Irish Setter hikers and Timberland Pros that are really comfortable and tough, but much heavier which is a bummer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable boot, doesn't last very long

This is a nice boot for everyday wear when you don't want to wear heavier snow/work boots. It is extremely comfortable and I never had an issue with fit or use. However, the quality just isn't there for these to last very long. I bought these the week before the pandemic began and they are already having issues that are leading me to replace them. Ive been working from home so they haven't had terribly much use since I bought them. They also trap smells in like woah, never had that issue with my Keens it Red Wings. When they were $70, it was worth it, but definitely not a $90+ boot.

2.0 out of 5 stars Changed padding at ankle causes painful pressure point
Reviewed in the United States on 30 December 2020
Size Name: 10.5 UKColour Name: Md Brown Full GrainVerified Purchase
I purchased this shoe before and was very satisfied. Unfortunately, this time the manufacturer altered the padding around the ankle in a way that makes a severe pressure point just above the ankle bone. My previous pair, still going strong, has flattish padding in that area and is perfect. The new show has a stiff, tube like insert just above the ankle bone that digs sharply into the ankle when laces are tied. After weeks of use, the tube insert has not softened and it causes pain/chafing in that area.

Changes like this should be labeled with a different model so previously satisfied customers can continue buying what works. Calling this the same shoe as before left me very dissatisfied and I will not repeat this purchase in the future or trust any Timberland product as there is no way to know what you are getting.

2.0 out of 5 stars Comfort but don’t expect them to last very long.

The price is pretty good and they are very comfortable. The constant problem with how they are made (at least the ones that I see made in China?) are with the front toe area. That area commonly opens. Dirt gets in. Looks bad. Soon, it breaks down the “waterproof”? ability. I have used a large amount of boot glue which helps for a few more months but the waterproof ability is gone. Maybe the company should raise the angle just a little higher at the toe, use a better glue!?, and a few actual stitches at that area? Maybe cost the company a few more pennies per shoe? I suppose something like that would improve their reputation? Better reputation, more happy customers, more money for the company?🧐
HA! Good business?
They are comfortable boots. Lasts about a year, maybe a year and a half. Maybe less if warn daily outdoors, at work. Just purchase a large tube of boot glue at the same time you buy the boots. That way you can clean out the grit/dirt and attach the glue on the same day before the toe area opens too far.

2.0 out of 5 stars One year later... A disposable boot. Buyer Beware.

I've always had a certain view of Timberland as being the official boot of the hiker / outdoorsman.
With that being said, Ive decided that after having worn several pairs of these White Ledge boots that I'm not buying anymore Timberland products. The soles of all of the shoes and boots I have bought all became unglued less than 6 months of use. Timberland wont honor its warranty because they were not purchased from an authorized dealer. This is a nice loop hole. As to 99% of the sellers of Timberland boots and shoes on Amazon are not actual authorized dealers.
Keep this in mind.... as per Timberlands warranty policy.
"Timberland cannot control the quality of Products sold by unauthorized sellers, this warranty applies only to Products that were purchased from Timberland or a Timberland authorized seller."

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good a work boot as I had hoped . Falling apart sooner than I would expect considering cost .

I started wearing these boots after i purchased them in mid March . I was off work for 3 months between then and now , Oct 18th . I also wore a pair of GELS I purchased early summer . I would say I wore boots about 40% of the 4 months or so I have been back to work , as well as a pair of NB shoes . These boots have very few miles of use , and my job though I do much walking , is light industrial , not exposed to harsh chemicals and I drive truck 5 days a week about 5hrs of 8 hr day . . These boots are starting to deteriorate quickly , the sole and leading toe edge separating from the main body of the boot , which I think is leather . I am a Timberland repeat customer , and not had this problem in earlier boots of that brand . I wish I had this issue appear earlier , as my return window has closed . I would not recommend this boot for anything but fashion use .

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware- poor quality adhesives

I loves these boots for te first 25 miles. 5 days of 5 mile hikes and their comfort and grip were awesome! I didn't have to "break" them in (read: no blisters). However, after wearing them about 15 times (most of the day in Utah winter) the adhesive started failing. As you can see, the toe is separating and the midsole is coming off the boot all the way around. Not what I expect from Timberland. I have had several pairs of their boots and loved them. Not so much with these, as you can see.
