Merrell has been my go to shoe for years. However, the last two pair I purchased have been sub par at best. Wore out much quicker than usual and this last pair never felt "right". The backs would bunch up, internally, and feel weird. Very disappointed. Have gone to another brand. Sorry Merrell....

My last pair served me well for eight years. These should do the same. They are comfortable, durable and versatile. Dry or wet, hot or cold, pavement or cross country... the shoes are comfortable and provide solid support. They are expensive... but worth every dollar.

Out of the box and onto my feet...perfect fit and have broken them in already with 2-3 days walking around. they were actually perfect out of the box. So...now after a 2 week trek in Peru, Bolivia and Chile I can say that these shoes are awesome. they were super comfortable, did not tire out my feet, fit perfectly. they held up on rocky and uneven terrain and held grip on slippery surfaces, wet rock conditions, sand, broken rock climbing, shallow stream beds. They were waterproof for sudden shallow submersions, held up on a really rocky, sharp rock area. These gave some insulation in snow in the Bolivian mountains and gave excellent traction on ice and wet surfaces. Love them! My wife bought similar in women's style and felt the same.
These were inexpensive in comparison to if they didn't work and my feet suffered...Merrell shoes are absolutely unparalleled in outdoor footwear.

I've had Moab Ventilators for years now. I've had maybe 5 pairs over the years because they are comfortable and fit me. The sizing has been consistent. So, when the Moabs were gone, I tried the Moab2.

It's mostly the same. It has one less pair of eyelets than before. The cushioning around the ankle is somewhat less and I find the snug grip on my narrow heels to be a little less snug (but not bad). I like the loop in the back better. The soles are the same pattern, we'll see if they hold up as well as prior pairs. My feet are not very tall, so when lacing, both sides of shoes tend to come together. The Moab 2 has a noticeably larger gap between the sides than before. So, if your feet have a lot of volume, you may notice a fit change. Not sure whether they are trying to trim costs. I suppose durability will tell me one way or the other. I like the reflective material in the eyelets. I wish it was added to the heel loop, too.

Bottom line, my experience wearing these for the last couple of months has been mostly the same as before.

Just not the same

This is my second pair of Merrell’s shoes. The first pair which was of similar design, was an amazing shoe that I walked over multilevel continents with. This pair, I wouldn’t trust to walk over a sand box in the local park. The shoe fits, but that is about all I can say for it. The laces require frequent reties, and the grip on of the sole is nearly non existent. I wouldn’t trust it on a walk across a bathroom floor. The construction of the shoe seems sound, but it lacks that quality build that the last pair had. Furthermore the comfort and support is seriously lacking. I am really disappointed but will keep wearing them for a few more weeks in hopes that they will break in and give me that same sense of comfort and stability that my first pair had.

Very good shoe. Superior in every way -- fit, quality of construction, appearance, and, most of all, support for one's entire foot. Extraordinary comfort for all day use. Would give them a ten star rating of I could.
One thing to note, however, the price on these shoes varies tremendously and seemingly for no reason. Would advise watching prices for a couple of days (or even weeks) to try to get the best bargain. I purchased mine for less than sixty dollars and within a week or two they were selling for over a hundred dollars. Also, check different colors; some colors can be as much as 50% less than other colors. Good luck!
