I have had about 10 pairs of these boots as they seem to be the widest fitting boot
They are probably the most comfortable short hiker I have ever had
The waterproof is mediocre
They last me about 6-7 months then loose some of their rigidity and support - which is a shame as the boot upper remains in good shape and the sole is in good shape too
I do wear them every day all day for yard work and walking and just out and about so really given they last 6-7 months that is not bad value for the comfort
Highly recommend for large people with wide feet!

Comfortable, long lasting shoes

Longevity: I'm a big guy--300lbs, and pretty active. I work a full time job and have a cattle farm. I wear these shoes pretty much all the time at home and on the farm, unless it's wet outside. I do good to keep a pair of shoes for a year, before the soles start wearing out at the shoe starts to break down. This pair made it through almost two years of heavy abuse. I'm sure if I had treated these shoes like they were intended, they'd have lasted me quite a bit longer. Still, I'm absolutely impressed.

Waterproofing: The description says waterproof. Absolutely true. You can step in (or stand in) a puddle all the way up to where the tongue starts near the front of the shoe without any moisture getting inside.

Comfort: This is the first pair of shoes I've ever bought that weren't uncomfortable until broken in. They felt just as good putting them on for the first time as they did after 6 months. Even though they're waterproof, my feet haven't sweated too bad. I know that's a trade off, but I'm good with it.

I'm about to buy my second pair, if that tells you anything.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Three Years of Daily Use and Still Going Strong

Three years of daily use later I felt compelled to write a review stating their current condition and longevity. I use this shoe as a daily wear in an office space as well as around when jogging/walking and while hiking and extensively working on our several acres of our wooded and muddy land and farm. I would note first I am VERY satisfied and this short review should provide some insight in what to expect with all this use over three years.

Problems: The laces themselves did not last more than a year or so, the loop on the rear of the shoe that assists in putting them on came off on one shoe after about 2 years. The interior of the shoe has started to wear as expected with some fabric coming loose after about 2.5 years.

Pros: After replacing the laces with hiking style bungee strings I have had zero problems, the loops, holes and tongue have held up immaculately. The same goes for the bottom of the shoe. The heal, the bonding between the tread and the base of the shoe, and the corners have not even become slightly loose. All fabric on the upper part of the shoe is intact and hasn't ripped or pulled apart at all.

Overall I figured I was taking a risk with this shoe, if it only lasted a year or so as most do I would be paying what I could essentially buy 2 decent pairs with in that time. To my surprise over three years later I am only now considering purchasing them again due to the tread finally starting to wear down enough to matter on some surfaces. I will absolutely purchase them again and highly recommend them despite the cost.

Good shoe, but has some drawbacks

I've worn these on many hikes through the mountains in both snow, wet and warm weather.
The good:
Waterproofing is excellent and my feet actually stay very comfortable when in the snow.
Comfortable fit
Extra wide, more like a 4EE fit which is what my actually are.
Good grip, I've never slipped in these shoes despite running some gnarly rock trails

The bad:
The shoelaces never stay tied. I've tried several things to fix this without just replacing the laces
My foot moves inside the shoe a lot. The puts pressure on my pinky toe and jams into the toe next to it. This could be an issue with the size of my left foot being slightly shorter, but I have similar play on the right foot as well.
These do not breathe well. My feet are always hot, sore and swollen after wearing for over an hour.

Conclusion:
I'll still keep these shoes around for hanging around the camp site, but I wouldn't take them with me on any serious hikes any more. I've switched to Salomon X3 Ultras

These shoes are unwearable due to the small fit.
I normally wear an 11 to 11.5 wide; these are 11.5 wide and fit like a 10.5. Width is OK.
However, my Amazon experience was good: easy order, on time delivery, etc.; and quality of product is what I would expect. They are just too small.
I think I'll go back to wearing Keen shoes.

I bought these for a trip to the Rocky Mountain National park a few weeks ago. They worked great. I even rented a Razr UTV for a half day and muddied these things up. I just wiped down with a damp wash clothe and they reverted back to looking brand new. I like the reinforced bottoms that don't torque when you walk on rocks and weird surfaces. This is my first pair of Merrill shoes. I will buy this product line again.
