Fantastic Parka that is warm but not too padded/bulky. The fabric is black but with woven in grey (melange) and to the touch feels like a smart textile and also it looks like cloth as well (rather than a plasticky waterproof). This is really nice and makes the parka look quite smart - so it would be fine for work/city wear as well as countryside rambling. It is lined in a slightly shiny polyester and everything (zips, seams etc) is finished well. There are no inside pockets but several on the outside. There is a popper closure pocket on the left arm. Large. deep pockets for the hands with diagonal entry and also straight pocket popper entry. There is a vertical zipped pocket on the left side of the chest and diagonally cut and set into the top of the chest area on each side (a bit like a raglan seam) there are long zips that open to use either as pockets or to put your hands in up high on the chest (like a policeman). Below the end of the sleeves there are stretchy polyester cuffs that hang below the sleeve edge and have thumb holes. The cuff material is very soft and comfortable and light so you can pop your gloves over these cuffs and create a good seal against snow or biting wind. The hood has room for a hat and is a little big for me. It is great that the fur trim is removable as it can get a bit bedraggled in the rain. Also, for me, once the fur was removed, the hood was lighter and shorter, so no longer fell down blocking my eyeline. This is a problem I have had with all parkas, rain jackets etc - the hoods are always too big for me and sometimes I find the addition of a hat too warm - but others may not have this annoyance. The hood does have drawstring toggles either side to tighten it which helps with this problem. The hood itself is also detachable (with poppers) from the main body of the coat. The main front zip is covered by a flap that velcros to stop rain ingress.

I think this parks looks very smart on and came slightly longer on my front than the photo (good rear coverage). It feels very cosy on but not super hot or sweaty- not as hot as a puffer jacket or serious ski jacket but definitely warm and cosy enough for most things that the British winter can throw at us. The description says it is also waterproof with Ultraflow 10,000 (whatever that means which is also embroidered on the inner side of the left sleeve). I have worn the parka twice now in the rain (once in very heavy rain at the beach)and have been completely dry. Very nice, quality garment.
