I thing the label "utility" refers to the simplicity of the cut - these trousers have the aesthetic that they're made out of two flat-cut pieces of cloth. The cut is actually rather more complex for comfort, but they look very simple. The stitching is all doubled, and finished properly (except the waist buttonhole on my pair - I'm not sure if that's a design choice or a slight mis-stitch). The pockets are stitched onto the outside, not cut through, with two button pockets at the back and two open pockets at the front. The depth of the pocket is just sufficient that you shouldn't suffer any unexpected key-loss, although I'd have preferred a little deeper. There's no stretch on the waist band.
The lengths, or rather length singular, is a bit odd. You can have any waist you like (28" to 42" at time of writing), but they're all 32" long. For me, that means turning them up, which is fine and easy to achieve. If I had much longer legs, I'm not sure my ankles would appreciate being exposed. I suppose the lack of length choice goes with the utility aesthetic.
I said "apparently" hard-wearing, because they're not. The fabric rips relatively easily, and it's all to easy to get small holes appearing. Don't even think about doing anything strenuous while wearing these trousers.
Incidentally, the trousers need washing before first use to soften them up.
The overall quality of the cargo trousers is of a very good standard. Made from 100% cotton, the cargo trousers are quite light and very comfortable to wear.
Size-wise, I'm generally around 34" to 36" waist. I ordered a pair in 34" waist, preferring to have the shorts slightly on the smaller size than too large (I have plans to lose weight). I have to say the 34" waist is pretty much the perfect size fit for me - fitting me comfortably without being too tight or too loose.
The cargo trousers are zip flied, with a large hard plastic button at the top making-up the main fastener for the trousers. The button isn't too tight or too loose when unbuttoning (as they can be on some trousers), and feels tough enough not to break if knocked hard or in the washing machine.
On the both legs you have decent-sized pockets. On the back you have two medium-sized button-fastening pockets which have a flap covering, adding a little extra protection against the elements and helping to keep anything you have in them that little bit more secure.
The stitchwork is of a good standard. On close inspection you can see tight stitching throughout, with very little snags or slips in the stitchwork. As such the trousers will no doubt last for a good while of general wear.
Overall I'm incredibly happy with the cargo trousers. They're stylish and practical and ideal for smart/casual events etc.
These are a rather nice pair of cargo pants. They are made from a woven cotton that feels like a canvas type of material
They fit really well.
They look smart and I'd say they'd suit an older man. They just seem, to me, to be old man pants.
I like them, but I never feel cool in them. (although I should add I never feel cool!)
Well stitched and even, No loose threads, no uneven bits and well constructed. Very well made.
Feels nice and good quality. Has a cotton rich fabric but it has a little give. They're comfortable too.
I use them for day to day but they're not my personal favourite.
The colour quite is a strong, mid greenish, khaki, rather retro in fact. I can imagine soldiers wearing trousers from this cloth. Good 2" wide tabs for a big belt (uniform style), deep slip in side pockets on the front, a strong metal zipper fly, closed with a camouflage type button. On the back, two large, secure pockets with flaps that have button down closings. Seams are double sewn, robust for use as workwear and reassuringly reliable for any other times.
The fitting is correct for the size. Machine wash at 40 degrees, with similar colours. Do not tumble dry, warm iron, do not dry clean. These are 100% cotton. Like the other reviewer so far, I think they are a bit over priced for simple style, roughish looking trousers.
I'm pleased to say they fitted me perfectly (reassuring, as I'm sure my usual jeans are bigger than 32" waist, in spite of their label) and I think they look rather stylish too.
They seem well made (in Bangladesh), are lightweight enough for summer and feel very comfortable. There's a button waist fastening, two front and two back pockets and a front zip.
The only reason I've docked them a star is the price. My jeans cost £7 a pair (from 'George'), so I could get four pairs and some change for the price of these trousers.
Other than that, they're very good and I'm happy to recommend them to you, if you don't mind spending the money.
