They have rubber soles which protect your feet from stones, pebbles and give grip on solid ground. I don’t think slippers would fit Or would be needed. Hope that is helpful to your question

My husband thinks they are the bst thing since sliced bread! Swimming with these shoes is comfortable for him and there's no problem whatever.

Not sure, if you get the correct size they are quite fitting and should keep out the sand. Will certainly make it easier to walk on sand or rough surfaces. Not sure if they will keep out the sand if you are walking along the surf line when sand and water are mixed up.

No, they are not water tight. The material isn't waterproof so your feet are wet as soon as they hit the water.
