The pair I had were velcro, I never had them off my feet they are so comfortable. I must admit the laced version would be more secure, when the water weighs on the material my pair did tend to drop a little at the back.

I have the laces as I have narrow feet, but they are a bit long so could catch on things, I have has to knot them

I much preferred the straps. They are adjustable and don't shift in use
