critic reviews stopped sequels
Verified purchase
well what's to say, its excellent cinematography and true to the game its making a movie for. the plot and story telling are excellent. i guess the critics who gave it poor scores never played World or Warcraft, or even Warcraft. amazing games, and an amazing movie, just a shame we wont see the 2 sequels planned for it due to critics, and too many studios getting involved. i hope blizzard commission the rights to another producer, with the same director, or at least have him write it

Fine as a “Hollywood” style movie, bad if you know the lore
Verified purchase
This movie is great as a stand-alone movie but I watched it based on the fact I’ve played World of Warcraft for 14 years and I’m a huge fan of the lore behind it.
This is one of my favourite lore stories so I was really excited and really disappointed when I actually saw it.

Enjoyable but could have been so much better.

Long movie, but the story does not come to life until towards the end. character development was left very late in the movie, felt myself looking for another 30 minutes to complete the character build up. That being said I did enjoy it. Acting by some of the less well know cast was better than the stars. Particularly liked the Orc characters and their build up was better than the lame human characters. All in all enjoyable but could have been so much better.

Italian edition. Good quality, average story.
Verified purchase
It is important to note that this is the italian edition. As it is a collectors' item this is something important to be known when buying this kind of items. Description reads "Language: English" and "import item may contain foreign writing on rear jcard which can be removed", which might be misleading, or at least incomplete. Anyway, on the bright side, this is an unique edition as it's different from the steel edition for the rest of the world, so I totally recommend it, even although it doesn't include in-game extras like they do in most countries.
Apart from this, the seller was very kind, communicative, sent the item long before expected and provided a great service.
About the movie itself, while it's over average in quality, is quite standard about the story. Warcraft (1) got its fame for being the first game where the "bad ones" were as important and playable as the "good ones". Later the story was made canon and written in quite good novels where many things were original and unexpected. Many of these things that made it special are changed to make the movie more friendly to the mass public, more standard, but lost all its charm. I'll avoid mentioning spoilers but I'd suggest having a look at the article about the First War in the Wowpedia or even reading the novels to know about those differences.

Bit of fun but never finished
Verified purchase
Could have been better, but a good bit of fun even in the quite dark places of the story, could have been fleshed out more and with the open ending for a sequel that never got made, at least not yet, so shame they didn't just finish it.

Flawed but Impressive
Verified purchase
It's a predictable generic plot for the average viewer, and frustrating at times for the seasoned veteran of Warcraft lore, but this is undeniably an exciting fantasy blockbuster. Truly exceptional special effects, strong cast without a standout star (works well here I feel, created a consistent quality), well produced, clearly created by people who have a love for Warcraft. It's clearly been hampered by cuts to make the film more 'wholesale', which is sad, but anybody looking for something easy to enjoy or a fan of the game universe looking to see their favourite world on the silver screen, this is your answer.

More Warcraft Please Duncan Jones!
Verified purchase
I know nothing of the game, but like the fantasy genre amongst others. I avoided it in the cinema after the unfair criticism but tried Warcraft for myself on Amazon. The slow start quickly winds up to be a sword and sorcery powerhouse and to my surprise I loved it.
The ending is uncertain and begs for a sequel, and I would love a trilogy. Please, let's have a sequel soon.
