Vanguard Porta Aim
The Porta Aim is a simple, convenient gun rest that takes seconds to fit and remove, but offers greater stability for improved accuracy in the field or zeroing your rifle.
- Single-handed height adjustment extends to between 225mm and 320mm
- Padded pillow holds the rifle securely to minimise any vibration and protect your rifle
- Aluminium, weighing just 800g
- Folds to just 310mm

Simple To Use
The Porta Aim is not designed to be a permanent fixture on your rifle, but just for those occasions that you need extra stability from a prone shooting position. Simply deploy the legs, adjust the height and place you rifle on the padded cushion, strapping up the velcro and you're ready to go. Perfect for rifles, air rifles and even shotguns.

Portable
If you need to travel greater distances, the Porta Aim weighs just 800g and folds down to 31cm. Despite this portability it provides a stable base between 22.5cm and 32cm.

Single Handed Height Adjustment
Simply lift the disk with one hand to release the lock and adjust the central column. When the disk is back on the lower plate it'll offer a solid and stable base again.

At best this is a three star product, but the reason I gave it 2/5 is:
1. Arrived with bad stitching on the gun rest bag, so the filling was leaking out. The stitching on the velcro was also a bit hit and miss. Amazon were great arranging a replacement, so we'll see what the next one is like. At this price I would expect better.
2. The plate that holds the bag needs to be screwed on to the tripod base. I noticed that the screw protrudes through the plate and pushes directly in to the material on the bottom of the rest bag. This seems like a design flaw, as with a lot of movement / rubbing against the screw it could wear through the seam of the bag. I would recommend putting some tape over it, but it needed a better solution from the manufacturer.
3. At half the price I would be happy. But when you consider the flaws mentioned it's pretty disgusting that they sell at this price.
Unfortunately this is the only product I could find that would meet my needs (which may explain the high price), so I have little choice but to hope that the replacement has better quality control.
Good things...
The tripod is well engineered and feels solid. Good rubber feet and wide spread for great stability.
The quick release height adjustment is a good idea and works well for a table mount, practical in real use would be a different matter.
Max / min height has good range. If you shoot bench and find standard rest bags a bit low, this is perfect height.
Returning with additional Duct-Tape to keep the filling in situ.

I think that it is absolutely ideal for someone like me who is returning to shooting, is not interested in hunting, but loves firing an air rifle at targets up to and including 55 metres.
So what do you get? A sturdy tripod based gun rest, which will be more than adequate to use as a bench rest or for firing in the prone position. I have thre rifles, a Gamo whisper sting, an FAC Weirauch 80K, both of which being break barrel rifles are not really suited to fittinga bipod, on the other hand, this rest, with its v shaped pillow is ideal. My other rifle is an S400, soon to be replaced with a BSA CLX. I don’t like bipods in use or to fit and therefore this rest suits me for bench or ground when in the prone position. Firing the Gamo is fairly straightforward, but the Weirauch at 18+ft lbs is a different rifle altogether and whilst it’s weight helps control the power this rest is a fantastic aid to support a powerful “springer”.
Build quality is excellent, the aluminium tripod legs when opened offer a degree of resistance, but more importantly offer a very steady, indeed rigid, rest. The pillow itself is well filled and whilst I tend not to use the velcro fastening for the "springer" I do for the PCP and it holds the stock and barrel nicely. I particularly like the single handed height adjuster, which is smooth, but when the adjuster ring is dropped into place holds the gun firmly locked and exactly where you set it.
Far far far better than a bag in my view and well worth £44.99.

It's expensive for what it is, but what other option is there? Sand bags just don't cut it and they're heavy to be lumping about.
Bought this for a Weihrauch HW97 rifle and it pairs up with it perfectly. The adjustable height is spot on and allows that perfect set up when setting up and shooting. It give the riffle a good solid footing.
