I saw "Untamed heart" the first time as a twelve year old at the movies. It made such an inpact that I talked about it non stop. Since then I belived in true love - I was convinced:)
I still love this movie because; how can you not?
A cynical would Say It is sentimental and romantic - but I Say it is wonderfully sweet and romantic.
And so far from beeing cynical as you can get...:)
Watch it and fell in love with the Story - but have your tissues nearby...

I watched this film years ago and enjoyed it and recently bought the DVD for a second look. Enjoyed it also the second time around but I believe that it could have been even better. It is an important part of the plot that the main character believes the story of his baboon's heart as related to him whilst living as a child in the orphanage but, unless it is my ears, it is hard to hear what is being said at the time and you have to piece it together later in the film. The movie takes place predominantly in a diner and this gave the opportunity to expand on the characters that frequented the place. This does not really happen (with the exception of course of the characters played by Marisa Tomei and Rosie Perez) and even though they all attend Adam's funeral they are not really involved in the film which is a shame. All this being said it is a fine movie if you are looking for a gentle storyline with a heart wrenching (but predictable)ending. Marisa Tomei is gorgeous, sexy and eminantly watchable whilst Christian Slater is sufficiently vulnerable and endearing. The hair cutting scene is a great example of how to create an erotic atmosphere without having to resort to excessive nudity or explicit sexual content. Or perhaps that's just down to Marisa Tomei!

ON OLD FIM, ABOUT THE LOVE STORY BETWEEN THE KIND- HEARTED BUT RATHER NAIVE CAROLINE (MARISA TOMEI) WHO IS A WAITRESS AT A DINER AND HER SILENT AND SOCIALLY AWKWARD COLLEAGUE ADAM (CHRISTIAN SLATER), WHO GREW UP IN AN ORHANAGE, HAS A BAD HEART AND STOPS TWO MEN FROM RAPING HER. DESPITE STRIKING ME AS ODD IN PLACES (ADAM SOMETIMES STALKS CAROLINE AND REPEATEDLY BREAKS INTO HER ROOM TO WATCH HER SLEEP) THE FILM ALSO HAD A KIND OF INNOCENCE TO IT NOT OFTEN FOUND IN FILMS IN MY VIEW.

Not ashamed to admit I love this movie...

It really is the sappiest, hokiest, stupidest syrupy-sweet movie I've ever seen. The dialogue's awful in places and it's shamelessly manipulative. And Adam believes he has a baboon's heart, for Christ's sake!

And yet it gets me every damn time. I adore Christian Slater in this movie, and I never fail to end up in floods of tears. At the end, with the hockey puck...

A heartfelt film that you will make a lasting impression

I first watched this film back in 1998 on TV and recently tracked it down on DVD and bought a copy.

It is a beautiful story of a tentative romance between an unlikely couple with Caroline, the unlucky in love waitress, and Adam, the kitchen hand, who is a shy, withdrawn individual who admires Caroline from afar.

I guess the reason the film appeals to me is because you can relate to the characters, their ordinary lives and the positive message regarding relationships and love. The pacing of the film is perfect, its small town setting is convincing and the supporting cast if a little sparse, also make their contribution.

A great film.

Cute little '90s romantic drama with a sad ending. And Christian Slater trying his best to be River Pheonix. I do love this film though. It always makes me feel like im 16. The age I was when I first saw it.
