Funnier than expected

I've recently watched a Vince Vaughan film called the Watch with Ben Stiller. I expected that to be funny and it wasn't. Put this on saw the other two main characters and thought I wasn't going to like it. I did.
It just goes to show you can't judge a film by it's actors.
This was pleasently and gently funny in a way I didn't expect. There was a fair bit of course humour some funny some a bit base but overall it did keep my lip curling (in a good way) all the way through.
Vince Vaughan was solid (in a way he wasn't in the Watch) and kept the films head above water. Dave Franco as Mike Pancake, gave a charming performance as the mentally challenged job seeker and Tom Wilkinson acted, as the quite old boy who was sexually repressed, for all he was worth.
An odd trio that actually worked quite well. A quietly funny film which is a bit off the wall. I think it is a marmite film which some will like and some think of as a waste of time.

A tale about trying, slightly off the wall

I'm not sure this is much of a comedy, but a struggling businessman is on a trip to Berlin and finds himself in some situations. The film is more about dusting oneself off from the many setbacks in life and keeping going forward to achieve something. I am not sure what the business is about in this film, but is a tale about trying, slightly off the wall.

WASTE OF MONEY

POORLY WRITTEN. DRAGS ON. FUNNY IN PARTS, BUT NOT AS FUNNY, AS IT COULD BE. THE SUB-PLOT, WITH THE CHILDREN IS UNNECESSARY, AND THROWS OFF THE STORY OF THE THREE SALESMEN. THE OVER THE TOP, SEX SCENES, ARE BOTH UNNECESSARY, AND NOT FUNNY. THIS MOVIE, HAD IT BEEN WRITTEN WELL, COULD HAVE BEEN FUNNY, CONSIDERING THE CAST. INSTEAD, IT IS ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Not funny at all. Can’t even finish watching it. Now this movie is my unfinished business.

laughter level on the boil throughout....

Vince Vaughan always has serious themes running through his comedies and this is no exception. He cleverly interweaves these within a funny plot to give more rounded characters that by the end you are totally on side with them.
Not the greatest of comedies but enough one liners and set pieces to keep the laughter level on the boil throughout.
Great supporting cast with Franco role one you will love or hate. I began the latter but by the end I was won over.

Didn't have much to do, it felt like all the movies that were free to watch I already know so why not rent a new (old) one - Unfinished Business is the perfect movie for a date night or just to pass time. It really entertained me, there are some brilliant jokes. Yea sure they do play with a few cliches, especially for Germany but who cares - this movie is great fun :)
