These are a close fitting pair of running pants, not quite a compression item but not far off either.
I hoped the Large size I received would fit women's size 14/16, but on this basis, a 'large' is a large 14 and no larger. Ultrasport items generally are at the smaller end of the range; my XL Ultrasport size 18-20 cycling jacket is smaller than another brand's size 16.
On a person of average height (5' 7'') these Capri pants will hit just below the knee. They are 2/3 Capri's rather than 3/4 or 7/8 Capri's. A tall person may struggle with the crotch length, these are more generally suitable for a petite fit of 5'5'' The grey melange fabric appears soft and comfortable.
They are washed inside out on a minimum synthetics wash, being 47% polyamide, 42% polyester. 11% of elastane helps to give them stretch and keeps them close fitting. Air dry not tumble dry, no need to iron.
The external finishing throughout is generally good, with a secure neon orange zipped pocket for keys or a small amount of cash, which means that wearing a running belt may not be necessary. The pocket isn't big enough for a smartphone sized phone.
The internal stitching for the pocket on my pair was a little clumsy with uneven fabric edges and loose threads, but it isn't visible from the outside and appears secure enough.
A pale grey Ultrasport logo on the thigh helps with visibility during poor light conditions. There is an internal drawstring, not visible externally should the large size prove to be a little loose around the waist (possibly for a large size 12).
They are a fairly low crotch length, and somebody with generous hips will struggle to have these above their hips. The waistband itself is quite deep, but the overall crotch length is short. I would recommend these more for a petite fit, of somebody 5' 4'' and below (162 cm) on the basis of this and the 2/3 leg length.
As the winter months approach at the time of writing this review, running pants of this design are more likely to be worn on the treadmill indoors than outdoors, but for size 12/14 runners these are perhaps a good investment for this or for next next summer.
