So, for clarity, this is a B movie. Its kinda cheesy, and low budget. You can see where the editors have worked really hard to cut shots together to try and create suspense and it really doesn't quite work.
The storyline is pretty solid. the writing is fair. the FX are typically low budget as would be expected. (but better than you may expect)
The props and costumes department did a pretty amazing job, and the acting is pretty solid as well.
If you are looking for a rainy sunday afternon monster movie, there are far worse ones out there to choose from.

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

HALL OF FAME
Quite astonishingly worse than even the most cheesy low-budget TV series.
Oddly, there's a half-decent Indiana Jones-type film in here, with decent dialogue and a reasonably turn by Michael Shanks, but it's entirely let down by the rubbish production values and definitely dodgy FX. In fact, this feels like a rough cut of the film, with first-pass FX, rather than a finished item.
Having said that, it's fairly harmless and it wasn't so bad that we actually stopped watching it. If you think of it as a tribute to a Harryhausen monster movie, then it's actually bearable.

I wonder if people who make movies like this watch them themselves ...

I've seen worse. Off the top of my head I can't remember when, but I have seen worse.....

It was close to semi decent but huge plot holes and naff CGI threw this under the bus. I'm going to be kind and say the cast had upcoming mortgage payments to make.

Did you grow up watching those old black and white movies the BBC used to show on a rainy Saturday afternoon where they only got one ring of the gong or one roar of the lion not two but you watched it anyway and found it was fun!
This movie is defintiely a B movie for the special effects and some of the plot but it's got some very sweet moments in it between Michael Shanks and Shannon Doherty's characters and it's worth the money just for the last fifteen minutes in my opinion!
(One warning - given that the main baddie is so unscary, there are some surprisingly gory moments!)
Still Michael Shanks being sweet and heroic - as the other reviewer said - what's not to like?

Some decent reputations as actors really badly hit here, why did they do this film, awful filming, script and special effects. A "B" movie? maybe a "C"

Not watched a film this poor in a long time. Think my love for treasure movies kept me watching to the end but wish i hadn't bothered....
