How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsInstant comfort
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 July 2020
With a strained Achilles’ tendon I needed walking boots that supported the ankle and cushioned the heel. Other Timberland footwear I had was comfortable and I hoped that these would be too. Not disappointed. Firm but really comfortable. No wearing in - ideal right out of the box

1.0 out of 5 starsMust be fake

I have worn Timberland boots in the past and loved them but bought these 3 months ago, waited a month for them to arrive from USA which was a bit annoying but I got over it. I’ve worn them for 2 months and as you can see in the pictures the soles are coming apart. I wore the previous pairs in the same way, for work 5 days a week and didn’t have this happen. You can see in the 4th picture that the sole is hardly worn but it’s coming apart from the boot in several places. I’m so disappointed and especially with how it’s been dealt with! Having only been offered a 15% refund I decided to warn people off.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hardly waterproof

Nice looking comfortable boots but leak badly. Hardly waterproof, you'll get wet feet even in heavy dew or walking through grass after rain. Very poor. Adding dubbing etc to the leather makes little difference. On this basis I wouldn't buy Timberland walking boots again. Fine for casual wear in dry weather but then what isn't?

Ces bottes ne sont pas étanches, malgré un traitement avec les produits recommandés. Après quelques mois, les semelles se détachent autour des embouts. J'ai payé 140 euros car je croyais que les Timberland étaient une marque de qualité !

2.0 out of 5 stars Repeat customer disappointed by drop in quality9

I have purchased at least 6 pair of these over the last 10 years. I swap them out as needed when in they get wet to allow them to dry. Obviously I loved them when I first purchased them, but the last 2 pairs have dropped in quality significantly. They have been far less comfortable, which is a bit subjective. I have even replaced the in soles with some Timberland Pro ones that I love in my other boots,, but there isn't as much support in the footbed. The "leather" has worn really badly with a lot less wear than the previous pairs. I wore out the soles on the first 3 pairs but the leather was cracking a little but still serviceable. The newer ones only get worn on dry days because the water resistance of the older ones have been replaced by dew on grass getting your feet wet. (HARDLY WATERPROOF AS THE TAG ON THE SIDE SAYS) I rated 2 stars because they are better than the cheapest hikers you can buy at a big box store. They used to be a great buy, but unfortunately no longer, they are $50 boots now for $80 . You can see in the pictures that the soles look near new but the leather is very worn and the toe is starting to separate. These new ones are made in Cambodia. The next to last pair was made in Vietnam and had slightly better leather wear. I have replaced them with a pair of Irish Setter hikers and Timberland Pros that are really comfortable and tough, but much heavier which is a bummer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Comfort but don’t expect them to last very long.

The price is pretty good and they are very comfortable. The constant problem with how they are made (at least the ones that I see made in China?) are with the front toe area. That area commonly opens. Dirt gets in. Looks bad. Soon, it breaks down the “waterproof”? ability. I have used a large amount of boot glue which helps for a few more months but the waterproof ability is gone. Maybe the company should raise the angle just a little higher at the toe, use a better glue!?, and a few actual stitches at that area? Maybe cost the company a few more pennies per shoe? I suppose something like that would improve their reputation? Better reputation, more happy customers, more money for the company?🧐
HA! Good business?
They are comfortable boots. Lasts about a year, maybe a year and a half. Maybe less if warn daily outdoors, at work. Just purchase a large tube of boot glue at the same time you buy the boots. That way you can clean out the grit/dirt and attach the glue on the same day before the toe area opens too far.

These boots suck. I've bought them 4 times. I add waterproofing spray to the exterior often. They are not waterproof. The only reason I haven't switched to a different brand is because I'm not sure of what brand would make leather boots anymore waterproof than these. But believe me my feet are soaked right now and im pissed. I tried to give 0 stars but it wouldn't let me

2.0 out of 5 stars Low quality Timberland product

I don’t know if these are seconds or what but in under 90 days they began to come apart. They leak now and I am very unhappy with what I spent for this low quality boot. Needless to say another pair will have to be bought. This is the first time Timberland has let us down but I’m definitely leery of the brand now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really wanted to love these.

At first I loved these boots. After one ski trip and a week in town I need to return them. The first time this waterproof boot got wet, water came in at the seam. Even though they're supposed to be waterproof, this wasn't a huge deal. I figured I would just apply waterproofing and all would be good. Unfortunately this morning a seam started coming apart. Not what I consider a great boot.

I really wanted to like these boots as they are comfortable and reasonably light but I have a feeling they will only be a problem.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not good for North Dakota winter
Reviewed in the United States on 8 February 2015

Boots are comfortable, but after a year and half of use they have fallen apart (the sole is falling off and the boot leaks at the seams despite using quality leather sealant). Disappointment is an understatement considering the high reviews and reputation of the company. I used these boots in North Dakota/ Northern MN where the winters can be tough, if you are in a warmer climate they might hold out for you, but be warned you might have to purchase them again next year or do what I'm about to do and buy something else.

First time I bought these boots they were great! Lasted 9 momths. For me that's a long time for boots. Ordered again. This time they lasted 2 1/2 months before the side stitching broke and the toes delaminated from the shoe. I hope the next pair lasts as long as the first

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, but nothing special

I bought these after the HiTec customer service was terrible. However, they lasted about half as long before falling apart. So they're not terrible, but if you need something that lasts a long time these may not be the ones.
