Timbo's on the toes & That's the way it goes!

Timberland have always been the front runner in footwear (see what I did there?) These are no exception. Fit like you had gloves on your feet. Comfort and warm toes all in the same place. Even in the snow (Tested' and they passed) Waterproof and deceivingly light in weight! About as heavy as Nike Airs' True Story' Smart as' If they're to be used for night's down the pub, in your chinos or combats! I got them for the English weather and dog walking... I love them! A wipe and they are clean (Not that I go around jumping in puddles like a loop case) Just the splashes and such that I have had on them, came straight off with a wipe 'Juan Sheet' They are a 'Proper Tidy Bit of Kit' Don't take my word for it, I'm off me swede mate lol Looking good in my boots though!

I've had more than 1 pair and they fit well each time. They are fairly comfortable when new, but I put a pair of Dr Scholls pads in at the beginning. They're also very water repellant. Con: They wear out quickly, especially the soles. I walk on gravel, asphalt a lot and the soles become paper thin in a short time.

I really like these boots, but (sadly) the heels are worn like this (see pucture) after only 9 months. I only wear them to walk my dog, and walk on partial adhphal bike paths and dirt paths in the wood. Very disapointed.

Tight over the top of foot and slippery soles

Had to get rid of them for a couple of reasons...

1) The toe-box up front was roomy but the area on top of the foot too tight, right across the top of the foot, and made it very uncomfortable.

2) The sole looks grippy but I slipped and fell walking on a wet dow-hill sidewalk. There is a sidewalk near my home that is on a down-hill and is always wet but I walk through it all the time wearing different shoes with no problem. This time, however, I slipped wearing these boots. You would think that since they are hiking boots they's be more grippy but they were MORE slippery than all my other shoes.

I've been buying these for a few years now because they are light. Since my back surgeries I can only wear a light boot. I only wish they had the toe flap come up and around another inch and a half as I wear them out fast.

I waited almost 6 months to write a review for a reason, I wanted to try it in all conditions. First of all I need couple of disclaimers, I bought these a complete number bigger than my regular shoes to allow for foot expansion and a third party insole (footminders: see my review of this item).
I am a fine arts photographer who enjoys shooting street and travel pics so I carry a professional full sensor DSLR and lenses with me which tend to be heavy. I started using these in Miami while walking around town to take pictures, even though Miami is a hot weather city, I never felt the shoes were excessively hot. Then I decided to travel to NYC in March during the last snow storm of the season (fist week of March) to shoot a project in B&W film while it snowed in the city. Even though there were temperatures down to 12 degrees and despited walking through freezing rain, snow, slush, puddles, ice, and climbing and offroading in Central Park these shoes never got wet inside and kept me warm and comfy all day long. I actually took pictures of the ice/slush I was walking around because I could not believe how good they performed in these conditions.
In May I took a trip to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia, where the heat was so excessive that made Miami look like a mild weather city. Anyhow, I walked all day through good and bad terrain carrying all my professional photo equipment and again the boots performed superbly. By the end of the day I took the shoes off and next day I was ready to go again.
The ability of these shoes to perform well on both extreme cold and heat and as well as off road and on road make this one the best purchases of the year for me.
