Pro EU propaganda by some millionaires
I am a MASSIVE fan of the Grand Tour and haven't missed one. But the blatant and sickening pro-EU love fest that this is, is beyond tolerable. If I want to hear "project fear" and the doomsters tales of peril then I will go read the Guardian. Oh, and "this is what it's like outside the EU"??? What exactly is the oh-so-mighty EU doing to help these poor people - nothing! Stick to making great TV, and leave the political jibes for elsewhere!

It's the Grand Tour.
I have looked at a few negative, or most helpful reviews. People complaining that they did the stuff that they always do. It's the Grand Tour.. Car's, Explosions, Politically Incorrect JOKES. Its stupid. Its meant to be stupid. It's,, wait for it.. The Grand tour. A show mostly about cars and breaking stuff, People are complaining because it's got exploding stuff and bad jokes along with a bit of anti woke non PC humour. That's the whole point of the show. If you're expecting something different. Like Wine tasting or an in depth well balanced political documentary, then it's probably not for you. Sorry but dont waste your time.

Tired and predictable: Updated post Lochdown
Verified purchase
More of the same from Clarkson, Hammond & May.

Go somewhere, buy flawed old cars, drive around a bit, a few staged scenes of said cars being impractical, pretend to like cars, go to a race track and find out the cars are slow, play a prank on May, drive around a bit, smash up caravans, build a bridge, inconclusive summary deciding cars are flawed but pretend to love them anyway.

Mostly as dull and predictable as watching repeats of TG on Dave but without the genuine chemistry between presenters.

If you like the worst episodes of GT and TG then you will like this.

Massive hunt... A massive over load of over acting.
I am a big fan of the Top Gear / Grand Tour specials but Massive Hunt is the first one (yes even seamen) that has been totally lame.

The acting is over the top, the enjoyment of wondering has it/has it not been scripted is gone (it's all scripted) and the enjoyment of the cars is none existent.

3 ageing blokes with more production money than sense try to rekindle their former glory days and fail totally.

Starting to think Andy Wilman is the problem...
Could have been so much better if a fresh director was involved and they changed the direction of the specials. This episode had zero believable story line, it wasted so much time peddling the whole “James May tries to crack a fake code for a scripted adventure”.

We do not want to see dull, scripted banter. We want to see the three guys travelling, drinking, behind the scenes and actually trying to achieve something worth while, not treasure hunting for something that isn’t there (something overwhelmingly obvious from the outset).

This episode was pointless and tedious, peppered by some excellent filmography. I wish the producers and directors saw this, it is so clear to me what needs to be altered and changed, both in the edit and production, to make really excellent episodes. When will Andy Wilman start to listen to people like me and you, long term fans, for ideas?

Review of Lochdown - it's not very good, is it?
Let's be honest this series hasn't been strong has it. And I can forgive an element of weakness with the latest episode (Lochdown) due to covid restrictions. But it is fair to say this is nonsense. It's so highly and obviously scripted now that the whole premise is lost. The execution is weak and it's now just a collection of poorly thought out and weakly executed action scenes that make no real sense. This is such a shame because when the TG/GT guys have undertaken real adventures (Mongolia being a more recent and excellent episode) they are genuinely entertaining. And of course Clarkson's farm is great TV mixing entertainment and being informative perfectly. But his contrived drivel isn't worth of any of the guys. And to be honest James May spends the whole episode with a "this is really embarrassing, what am I doing here?" look on his face. Come guys - must try harder.

Formulaic Claptrap
Still brilliantly filmed and produced but far too much predictable formulaic footage of preposterously modified cars struggling on poor roads. I found it frankly abhorrent that there was an undercurrent of sneering at people existing in genuine poverty. I laughed when the guy crashed his Tuk Tuk into a house then immediately felt remorseful.

This isn't how the crew should be generating entertainment. I've been a fan of Top Gear, The Grand Tour and the three presenters since Clarkson appeared on the scene in the early 1990s with his big hair and clever metaphors. I now reminisce wistfully about the quality magazine formats of TGT Series 1 and 2. I feel that Amazon has treated Clarkson, Hammond & May like a company pension scheme: it started off gold plated then has steadily been whittled away to £30 a week and a bowl of warm soup in a local drop in centre.

Think about this: remove the puerile expletives and references to expletives and then what used to be a family show will be a family show again. Whoever advised you to leave less than 5 seconds worth of rude words in a 1.5 hour show should be sacked from your team. Why alienate children from your audience and future fan base? Clowns. I considered giving this a three-star review but I'm afraid that it isn't average enough.
