So so..

Well intentioned but ultimately dull cowboy flick. The very low budget is obvious - the film consists entirely of dialogue and people walking about in the woods. The opening scene of a dimly lit, smoky bar in the 1930s seems interminable after several minutes of inaudible small talk and plinky plonky guitar music, and gives you an idea of what's to come. In one scene, there appears to be a modern CCTV camera on a door frame. Needs a remake as the (true) story itself is relatively interesting.

A Shameful History Some Might Want To Forget

Texas Red is based on the harrowing true story of a petty criminal who was racially harassed to the point of having to defend himself from the mob and then accused of murder, to flee for his life.
Cedric Burnside's portrayal of Texas Red's fear and helplessness is faultless, as his character is pursued mercilessly across the state by a lynch mob of hundreds.
From the soothing music and dance scenes of the juke joint to the heart pounding chase scenes, this film has everything you could ask for, and more.

Superb film and my second favourite of this series of 12 Westerns In 12 Months. Please see my more in depth review of The Wilderness Road.

Really Really boring,

Poor characterization, cliches without doing anything with them, don't let people guilt you into praising the film because it covers racism

Total Rubbish
What a waste of my Sunday. It's like watching a pride of lions chasing a sick buffalo for days, only for the buffalo to be caught and killed eventually.

This is not a movie for me. No twist, no conflict, no motive. No defiance. Beyond rubbish.
