Not as good as they used to be

I have had numerous pairs of these over the years and have found them exceptionally comfortable right from the start. However, this time I am experiencing certain issues. As usual, I ordered a size 3 but they are really quite big and I've had to tighten the straps as much as possible. In addition, the straps are pretty stiff with edge stitching and as a result they seem quite sharp and uncomfortable. The quality of the leather doesn't seem as good on these as on my previous pairs. Finally, I have found that all the pairs I've had have eventually split straight across the ball of the foot. I think, therefore, these will be the last pair of this particular style that I buy as the quality seems to be going down.
