Some glaring plot issues

I was keen to watch this to see if it was as bad as I had read, as it never seems to be shown on TV. I was surprised to see an area of Milton Keynes that I am very familiar with featuring as an area just outside the United Nations building, but with people dressed to look American! This seemed a bit weird, but had a very strange continuity error, as someone wanders past with an, 'I heart NY' shopping bag. In the Superman universe, NY is Metropolis, so surely the bag should say 'I heart M'! The plot wasn't great but it is still Superman and it did still have Margot Kidder and Christopher Reeve in it.

Spoiler alert

The bit where clerk reveals himself to Lois as Superman was just weird! He seemed to want to do this to share his dilemma with her, but never gets that far in the conversation! She also seems totally unphased to discover that he is Superman this time which I imagine is meant to show that she isn't that naive to be tricked by a pair of glasses, but doesn't align to her reactions elsewhere in the film. Once again, she forgets he is Superman when he kisses her, so why did she not forget during their time in the fortress of solitude in the earlier film.

Also, Superman moving the moon out of earth's orbit would have caused devastation on the earth and the scale of Superman to the moon all seemed wrong at that point in the film!

Probably the worst clanger was where Lex steals superman's hair that is holding up a very heavy weight by snipping it with a tool that doesn't look much stronger than a pair of garden shears!

For starters the delivery time and quality of the disc and box get the seller well deserved praise.

As for the film itself. When I bought this on VHS years ago, it had so many more of the scenes in it.
For example the scene with the tornado which carries the little girl (Played by Christopher Reeve's Daughter) out the window and Superman saves her.
Also the scene where Nuclear Man starts a missile going and Superman stops it firing at the Russians.
I ask you what the hell are these people who put the DVD's together thinking. Everyone wants the right versions of these films. Not some chopped up version where the film reel has been cut by Nuclear Man's really long and bad nails
These scenes now sit in the Deleted Scenes section of ALL Region 1 and 2 DVD versions of this film. I know as I have bought them ALL trying to find the proper full film I got years ago on VHS. To add insult to injury, some of the scenes are poorly presented.
Not to mention the film itself with it's slashed in half budget leaving the Superman franchise in dire straits. Until Man of Steel arrived to save the day.
With that in mind, people who want the fuller version of this film are right out of luck. Unless someone can point me in the direction of the entire film as was released originally. 2 Stars for the REGION 1 version of this movie I am afraid to say. But 5 Stars to the seller as noted above.

Not the worst

It's a failure but not a total stinker. There are bits and pieces I like about it such as the music score, Christopher Reeve and the beautiful Mariel Hemingway. Clocking in at just under an hour and a half and being made up mainly of scenes that actual feature Superman doing something, Superman IV is a decent sequel that, although is admittedly a badly made film on a technical level, is still watchable 30 years on.
