7.11 h 22 min2007X-Ray12
Stone (Selleck) is a quiet chief of police in a cold, gray, seaside town and when a serial killer strikes, this tough cop is in the thick of it. Add his girlfriend, an ex-wife and a sexy defence attorney, and things really heat up.

really good story line

The Jesse Stone DVDs are brilliant, watch them in order and they are even better because there is a back story running all the way through. This is Tom Selleck at his best. Its the sort of DVD you can watch several times and it just gets better. This is a good old fashioned snuggle down on your sofa and enjoy, definitely not for people who like all the crash bang wallop nonsense and special effects.

Really disappointed with this, had expected a bit better at least, especially given some of the reviews, but was very poor. What was meant to be the main part of the story - the serial murders - are completely overshadowed by the investigation of the rape of a school girl, which initially you assume must at least have some significance to the main case, but actually there is only a vague connection by default at the end, (I am trying not to give too much away in case someone does actually want to sit through this), but even more annoyingly the whole serial killer thing - whose identities are revealed to the audience from the very start - seems an utterly pointless story, along with the sudden, daft ending, you are never remotely given an explanation as to who, what or why, so you are just left at the end feeling cheated, annoyed, and that you have completely wasted your time. My advice, if you want to see multiple shots of Tom Selleck looking thoughtful and a little bit tortured then go ahead, but if you want an interesting story and a good film, then don't bother.

Great viewing - Tom Selleck is great as Jesse Stone
Verified purchase
I discovered the Jesse Stone series by accident one cold, rainy afternoon and I am now working my way through all nine episodes.

Tom Selleck is great as Chief Stone and the scenery is amazing.

I don't want to give anything away but Chief Stone is an experienced law officer with a troubled career behind him. He was hired as the town council thought that he was drunk that they could control while they continued with their illegal activities.

I am looking forward to more cold, rainy Autumnal afternoons so I can watch another one in the series.

A well written and well acted adults film without profanity.

This is a very well written and acted film. It was very refreshing to watch a fast moving film with an adult theme without having to also put up with very bad language. Not all of us feel the need to resort to swearing and certainly do not choose to have it delivered to our homes under the guise of entertainment. Thank you to all concerned.

in my humble opinion tom selleck doesn't make a bad film or TV series
basic profile
Jesse stone is fired from a major American city police force due to being
drunk on the job, he applies and gets the position of police chief in a tiny town
called PARADISE with a population of just under 1000, he has a staff of 3-4
and mostly they deal with small crimes. Obviously he's over qualified for the job
but gets to grips with it, his drinking is his demon though he doesn't drink on the job he does in the home, also every day he talks to his ex wife jenny on the phone, he has numerous
relationships one ends in tragedy

a great riveting tv movies

Tom Selleck as the quietly moral man, speaking only when he has something to say. Supposedly set in a New England fishing town, this has superb cinematography, poignant background music which is exactly that ... in the background ..... and an excellent story. Police Chief Jesse Stone is a no-nonsense policeman, definitely non-pc (which might have you cheering in some scenes) as he quietly rips apart a complacent community while dealing with his own personal issues.

Have now purchased all in the series and each one has been a joy to watch.

As there is series of Jesse Stone films we wanted to watch this as they are in order.
Nice not to have to buy the dvd , but still thought it was a little more in price than we wanted to pay and we have one more to download.
Good film nevertheless!

Only recently came across this series, written by Robert B. Parker about a small town Chief of Police called Jesse Stone. Tom Selleck plays Jesse Stone the L.A.P.D. Homicide Detective who lost his job and was divorced by his wife , who decides to settle in Paradise, Massachusetts.
Based on the episodes I have seen to date I think Jesse Stone is a really good series.
