Absolutely awful experience . Kindle came . Looked immaculate . Thought great . Wouldn’t connect to the wifi . Wouldn’t pick wifi up . Followed all the trouble shooting tips . Nothing wrong with my router as other devices were contacted without a problem. Spoke to customer services via online chat was asked to download an update which I was reluctant to do as surely this should of been done. 2 hours on chat support . Still not picking up a connection . Connection was conveniently lost with customer services . So a wasted day .

I bought this to replace my old kindle with keyboard which died.
I loathed it. It was the wrong shape. It felt wrong and worse still when I used it I was always setting off some touchscreen feature that I didn’t want and then having to navigate to get rid of unwanted information eg I could watch the battery quickly losing power when all I wanted to do was read a book. My original kindle had a big button for forward and small one for back on the RHS and the same on the LHS so you could operate with either or both hands. I wasn’t just losing my place I was fast losing the plot and my chance for a good night’s sleep. To top it all, the dictionary appeared in a little jumpy pop up box whereas my original kindle you could easily go from book to OED in book form and back again.
It was interesting to be able to read at night with the lights off and I can imagine times when this would be useful, though I’m not sure that it would be good for your eyes.
Otherwise it was a wholly negative experience.
The best I can say about this device is that it helped me identify what was good about my original kindle.
It seems a shame that Amazon no longer has any interest in repairing selling or manufacturing the Kindle with Keyboard. As far as I can see all the later Kindles have touchscreens and will have the same problems as this one. You’d be as well reading on your phone or tablet.
Amazon have overshot the mark and produced just another computer.
It’s OK for the moment as you can get repairs and refurbished KK on ebay which will probably do me for the rest of my lifetime but the future looks bleak for dedicated readers.

The only thing I'm annoyed about is I spent an extra £6 to buy a cable as the listing said the kindle came without a cable. In fact it did come with one, so I wasted money as well as adding to plastic waste etc.

So if you are looking to buy one and are told it doesn't have a cable - this might not be true!! Otherwise I'm pleased so far. I had an old kindle for many years and ahve missed being able to carry all my books. The app on the phone just isn't the same for reading. Looking forward to getting into more of my books again on the move :)

The initial set up was okay... product displayed the incorrect time after selecting my country of residence, it did connect to my WiFi however would then not let me log into my amazon account. All my details were correct, didn't work, tried my partner's log in, didn't work. We then tried to create a new account which left us with a blank screen and the only option was to restart and even then nothing changed.

Really disappointed with this! I would not buy this refurbished product, more hassle which is not what I wanted.

As someone who has owned a number of kindles over the years this is the best entry model yet. The backlight works well and the increased storage is a real boom.

Although it came in a brown box, it was impossible to tell that it was not a new device. It works well and I'm hooked on reading yet again.

Looks new. Works fine. Went to buy a cover and the serial number says its a 2015 model and it is now 2021 so I feel a bit cheated on the price, but to be fair, its the same software and the functionality is pretty basic because it's a book.
