This is a bit of an odd film. Guy Pearce is a professor of philosophy who had to leave his previous post due to an inappropriate relationship with a student. A young girl (teenager) disappears and her body is found. Pierce Brosnan is the cop investigating. It seems to be more about them than the actual case, and the ending is very odd. I prefer films to be more straightforward than this. It is however well acted.

Excellent psychological thriller that keeps you wondering all the way through. Stylishly shot, sublimely acted.
Pierce Brosnan and Guy Pearce work alongside each other perfectly. The subtle changes in Guy Pearce's character
are very interesting. I didn't know whether I liked him or not. It was very entertaining to the last moment.

Pierce Brosnan as an American detective was somehow unconvincing, not his finest performance. There is not one sympathetic character in the entire film and it so tedious and uninvolving I couldn’t watch it through to the end.

Not fantastic by any means, but was worth a watch. About a man whose life spirals out of control after he gets accused of something he did not do.

Great acting but anticlimactic ending

Watchable but not a cinematic great.

Brosnan stole the film with great acting but overall a silly plot with a very weak ending.

Interesting psychological thriller but lazy ending

I liked the concept of this film (if your memory isn’t correct can you tell the truth) but the ending felt lazy. Good performances by all.

Slow plodding plot. The sort of film you'd expect to find on a midweek afternoon on one of the lesser TV channels.
