More of a children’s movie.

Pretty lame all in all, it’s more like a children’s adventure movie that might appeal to teenagers but for an ardent horror fan forget it. It started out reasonably well and from a promising start soon went down hill. Why on earth it was a certificate 15 is anyone’s guess as there is virtually no blood or gore in fact there’s not much of anything to really recommend it. The characters are all pretty basic and not very likeable either ( the fat kid was extremely annoying) and although the creature was pretty effective it really didn’t have that much to do except scream and hiss and wander about. Good camera work and a lovely score could do nothing to lift this one above the standard of completely forgettable and why on earth anyone bothered with this childish nonsense is debatable. All in all a very poor effort due to the character’s lame attempts at trying but failing to garner sympathy. If you’re fifteen and easily pleased then go for it, but if you like serious horror movies with a punch then take a “Shortcut “ to something else.

It had potential that was never truly used to get full effect. ACHTUNG! Spoilers included.

It feels like it was written as a darker episode of the Goosebumps TV show. It's not a proper horror movie. Then again a movie doesn't need to be hardcore horror for it to be entertaining. Some stupid character actions throughout the affair. It would be nice for once to see some common sense used by characters in these sorts of movies. Not entirely otherwise the story would last mere minutes. But use some for goodness sake. The guy who was supposedly hunting the creature for 40+ years. In a flash back you see his fate at the claws of the creature. He didn't even put up a fight. Pure soy boy way to go out. You'd think if he spent 40+ years tailing it and researching it. He'd have put up some sort of last stand. Nope. Not one bit did he. Just picked up a pipe then he cowered by a table waiting on it to end him. Another poor decision was when they had a chance to put a bullet in the face of the high jacker of their bus. They messed about and messed about. Then baddie got the gun back and was killed by the creature. If they'd have put one in the high jacker when they got the chance. They'd have had a gun at their disposal. Even if the gun would have had no real effect. False hope is better than no hope. I paid £4.99p for this on DVD (new) from Amazon themselves. So I am not to annoyed with the movie. I got my money's worth I suppose. PS, You'd have thought they'd have dragged it's carcass out into the daylight after it was set on fire. To achieve maximum damage. Not a chance. Youngsters might get more of a thrill from this than I did. I wasn't bored but it didn't thrill me. Nightmare City and Zombie Flesh Eaters and also City of the Living Dead and Demons and Demons 2. They are thrilling and truly enjoyable. Check them out for some gore and atmosphere by the truck load that only the 80's could deliver.

Fun but very derivative (NOTE: SPOILERS)

The first half resembles Jeepers Creepers 2 (high school kids on a bus menaced by something predatory crawling around outside looking to get in) and for the second half, take your pick from any film where people end up wandering around a disused underground military base/sewer network/subway system with miles of badly lit tunnels as something that can see in the dark stalks them. The something this time keeps in the dark, meaning we see only brief glimpses of it beyond its hooded cloak, although the five kids which it menaces do take it all seriously, meaning you sort of care what happens to them. I suspect that behind their transformation from immature teens teasing eachother to bonding and relying on eachother to stay alive, there is meant to be a coming of age story, especially as the film opens and closes with a meaningful Stand By Me-type voiceover.

Have to say when I was told by a friend who is in it that the edit is bad I didn't think it would be as bad as it was.

It was diabolical,
Also a full coach for 5 people is a bit beyond realistic.

Trying too hard to be both jeepers creepers and wrong turn.

Also the monster is just a doctor who slavene sprayed black, like come on!

Brought this DVD myself due to the reviews it had when it was first released. Some good scenes and plots. It's just a shame that more money wasn't invested in to the scenes themselves because this film had the potential to be pretty good. The scenes themselves were a little lame. Watched only the once and then sold it on eBay to try and get something back from the money I spent on this DVD. Seems a shame that they don't make the style of horror films they once did back in the 1970's and 1980's. Will there be a director anytime soon who actually releases a goog horror film?

The Goonies meets the decent !

I went into this film apprehensive after reading some of the reviews it’s a mix bag n I think it’s going to be one of them films where you either love it or hate it.

It’s a slightly confusing start to the movie, we are introduced to our characters on what looks like a 1940’s style bus in the middle of Italy transporting 5 British teens, I couldn’t tell you where they were heading as shit hits the fan for them in the first 10 minutes, n they end up getting there bus hijacked by a serial killer who is also a British man who just so happened to be wandering around the woods of Italy but I’ll throw a pinch of salt and digress

The brits abroad then end up getting trapped in a tunnel and quickly thrown into a creature feature

To summarise it’s a stranger things, goonies style horror film that was well acted and a decent story
I feel they could have ramped up the horror a touch but for what it was I enjoyed it.
