The first film I ever watched on video cassette tape, remember that kids? No you won’t because you’re too busy snap chatting pictures of your privates to people you haven’t even met before! You don’t even know you’re born!

is a 1986 American science fiction comedy film directed by John Badham and written by S. S. Wilson and Brent Maddock. The film's plot centers upon an experimental military robot that is struck by lightning and gains a human-like intelligence, prompting it to escape its facility to learn more about the world. The film stars Ally Sheedy, Steve Guttenberg, Fisher Stevens, Austin Pendleton and G. W. Bailey, with Tim Blaney as the voice of the robot named "Number 5". A sequel, Short Circuit 2, was released in 1988, directed by Kenneth Johnson, but did not do as well at the box office.

One of the 80's best offerings and always enjoyable.

Not a PG.

As a child I liked this lots so was hoping to rewatch it with my own kids. Luckily I rewatched it myself first. It is full of swearing that makes it more like a modern 12 or even 15. The awful racial stereotype of the goofy Indian character feels racist. I can't believe I got to watch this as a child myself. Approach with caution.

Charming!

I remembered this movie fondly from my childhood and it was really fun to revisit it again. The acting was hilariously bad in some places (especially from the character 'Stephanie' but it didn't detract from the charm. There's something about a cute robot swearing that really tickled me. If watching with kids, there are some talks about death and a few swear words here and there so would advise watching with kids that are a little bit older

I love this classic movie & I was very pleased to now be able to get it on BR DISC . This is one of those mid 1980s classics that is still great 30+ years later

Great film, good quality recording, lots of swearing?

So my boys love this classic movie and I'm so happy watching it again. One thing to note is that although it's a 12 rating one thing we didn't realise was how much sweating is in here. For a start everything out of Schroeder's mouth is BULLS***! Still amazing though.
