Yet another Amazon film with no subtitles

Why have so many films and series on Amazon Prime been denied subtitles? Every single film and series on Netflix has subtitles, Amazon appear to be unconcerned about the quality it's offering its Prime customers - is this Amazon just not being bothered, or is it a cost cutting ploy?

Classic Johnny Depp.

This one is one of Johnny Depp's best movies, there is not much to say because i don't want to spoil it if someone hasn't seen it yet... Just watch it! its about a writer who's got some issues, in he's life and in he's mind... Johnny Depp acts really good here, i think this is one of those movies he didn't do just for the money.

It is 5/5 without that rating being restricted to any specific genre, it is 5/5 as a movie, its simple yet twisted enough to keep one interested and excited.

So here I am unwell and feeling sorry for myself when I decide to watch a film, I'll try Jonny Depp, he's always good! he is beyond amazing this guy! I have literally sat glued to this throughout, I kept thinking there's got to be a twist here as I'm sure he's the bad guy! and he is Lol But what a fabulous bad guy he is :)

Spoilers here...
I felt the wife kinda got her comeuppance and the boyfriend as well, really can't figure out how the other two got bumped off though, anyway who cares :) the film was fabulous and he can kill as many people as he wants, I'm entertained while I feel unwell and that's the main thing (only kidding by the way)

In short amazing film and Jonny Depp never lets you down

Slick, Suspenseful Story of Danger, Doubt & Depp.

A psychological thriller and brilliantly assured film that faithfully reproduces the eeriness, chill factor and complexities of the writing by Stephen King and David Koepp. Johnny Depp is on seductively secretive top form as a writer separated from his wife and resisting signing final divorce papers whilst attempting to be creative in an idyllic retreat location. But tortured memories and indistinct realities forbid him any real peace. As lives are examined the plot unfolds and your enjoyment is assured. Particularly superb supporting work is in evidence by the convincing and much under appreciated John Turturro, who adds significantly to the film's realism and suspense. Buy this movie - it's one for anyone's collection.

Just watched on Prime, but it's Johnny Depp so I'm hooked, not a follower of Stephen King so wasn't sure what to expect, certainly not the ending. I like the Inter play between John Turturro and Johnny they make good adversaries as they did in The Man Who Cried ( the music in that is fantastic ) Back to the film it moved along nicely with did he or didn't he as the puzzle, interesting enough to add to my collection of JD movies. A must to buy and often not mentioned is The Libertine, I will say he is amazing as John Wilmot ( Earl of Rochester worthy of an Oscar, not for the younger viewers( warning ) should show it on Prime

Johnny depp does Stephen king
Verified purchase
An enjoyable, if somewhat predictable, Stephen King adaption. Anyone who has watched fight club or raising Cain will get the twist almost as soon as the movie begins, but that said there are still some fine performances, particularly from depp, whose role here is tailored here to suit his strengths - and so the book's sympathies are shifted entirely to his character. David keopp, is hollywood's finest writer - bar none, and here he makes a good fist of directing a psychological thriller. He hasn't directed many films, but what he has done is possibly the most varied range of genres, of any modern day filmmaker. He's done comedy (ghost town) and action (premium rush) as well as this one and they are all well made films.

I was not convinced that even Johnny Depp was taking this plot seriously. At times his character seemed way too flippant , almost as though he was smirking at the whole silly film. This is the kind of psychological theme that hinges on the 'surprise' ending. There were no surprises. It is unfortunately far too cliqued to be of any great note.
It passed an hour in lockdown when I hadn't the will to get off the sofa. sorry that's the best I can say about it.
