Seapower To Superpower: The Story of Global Supremacy

Season 1
 (3)
2007ALL
England's Royal Navy preserved its empire and gave it military dominance of the world for more than 350 years. In the 20th century that dominance would pass from Britain to America and eventually, from sea to space. The English language owes its success as the world language to this fundamental military reality -- whoever controls the great commons of the sea and space dominates the world.

Naval strategists had concluded, with the arrival of cheap land transportation, that the advantage of seapower would be transferred to a land-based empire. By 1946, that challenger, the USSR, had arrived, and with it, atomic power, missiles and satellites. Space, the Great Commons explores the war over space between the United States and the Soviet Union and America's final triumph.

I shall be watching this again (and again).
Very enjoyable and informative series. I shall be watching this again (and again).

From Sea to Space, this explains the importance of superiority of these theatres. Expains the rise of the Royal Navy and how crucial it was for the British Empire, without which the Empire would be an impossibility and how ultimately the costs of maintaining the Royal Navy was no longer sustainable, hence the fall of the Empire (though many other factors were also at play). The rise of the US Navy from Ironclads to AEGIS, then ultimately Space where the USA now dominate in Military capabilities.

I highly recomend this series.

Quite well done.
A story of the rise of British dominance via its Navy and its replacement by the USA.
Nothing new but it is concise and interesting. Well worth viewing.
